NVidia launches the impressive GTX 1070 and 1080 Cards

Hi,

in in case you missed it, Nvidia just launched its new GTX 1080 that comes with a new architecture, better RAM than GDDR5 and less power consumption than the Titan X, but giving better performance!

Insane, no? All that at $600 only. And with a cheaper variant (GTX 1070) which also boasts better graphics than the Titan X at a mere $380 only!

cant wait to try out one of these beauties!

Exactly what I was thinking... I have to build a gaming rig for my nephew and was thinking of going for a GTX970 before but am considering waiting for these beauties to launch to see if I can snatch a 1070 for around $400-450 in Pak, otherwise should have great price drops for all older hardware.

I don't think there can be that HUGE a difference. Probably 50-100$ expensive.

They were running a demo there in the conference , Card was running at 2.1GHZ vs 980Ti overclocked 1.5Ghz max
obviously that was the Founder's Edition MSRP was $699 +
But third parties would potentially release their own versions of custom cooler's it would add even more sugar to it.

june 10th is for the 1070, so.......

If one is to speculate, I would say that the day it's launched, some websites will try to get it in stock by the following day or two. Their prices might be a bit inflated at first 'coz of the exclusive availability but I think give it a week or two and almost all vendors will be putting it on their shelves after which the prices ought to be somewhat reasonable. Perhaps a $50-100 spike from the original price...

Too early to say. Early prices will be around 50k, most likely above it, might later settle down to 45. GTX 970 debuted at $330 and its early prices here were ~50k.

Yes, the GTX 1080 which launches at the end of May at a purported US$599 will offer a 25% increase vs a Titan X and up to a 65% increase vs a GTX 980. That's sweet music to my ears. Though, not soon after AMD will launch Polaris 10 and 11. Polaris 10 will be the new R9 400 series, which will crush the R9 390/X cards and may even reach R9 Fury levels (if you believe everything you read).

I'm interested in Vega 10, which allegedly has had its launch date moved forward from Q1 2017 to this October. I'll wait for Polaris' release. If the rumours/speculations are true about Polaris' capabilities then you would reasonably be able to expect Vega 10 to not be a let down. If Polaris 10 is a failure then Vega.....?

Exiting times wouldn't you say? Anyway, will be looking forward to some real world benches...

If I was you and I could live without it for a bit, I would sell sell sell and wait for Polaris to be released. Once it has been released and there are real world benchmarks out there, then decide between the 1070/480/490 (depeneding on how much you can afford/save by then)...but whatever you decide...

don't buy a 970 or R9 3xx series card - you will regret it. The performance gains that are to be had with Pascal/Polaris/Vega are going to be well worth the time and any saving/begging/borrowing that you may or may not have to do...

Pakistani Market? Don't expect miracles. if you want to spend cash for long run, then you should wait for Polaris or Pascal.
