Assalamu Alaikum,

Members planing to buy a new or used GPU. I did a detailed research back in 2013 for a 4gen system and even i bought it Mashallah but unfortunately couldn't buy a GPU (gtx650ti 2gb) which was on the list after the research could'nt buy it due to lack of budget. Im stuck with gtx460 1gb which is sh*t for the system i build!

So now im planing to have a new card but not looking for a titan or the most expensive card there in the market.

Im planning to buy best bang of the buck card i can have in my budget and i was wondering if i can get an idea from my fellow friends and members here before starting any research. The type of idea i want is from where should i start like which series should i look for as AMD has shifted to R series from HD and its bit confusing to understand them on other side Nvidia is also out with vast amount of GPU now after gtx 650 and are 1gb and 2gb making any difference these days in cards performance? what specific things should i look in a card before buying one.

I do graphics, rendering, editing work and want to play latest games with good results.

My system specs are the following:

Motherboard: Asus gryphon z87 (Link for reference)>>> Motherboards - GRYPHON Z87 - ASUS
CPU: intel core i3 4130 Haswel
Power supply: Cooler Master GX2 650W

My budget: 10 to 20k But be careful before recommending a GPU as i said i don't want the expensive one and i don't want the slowest one either!!

Thanks in Advance.

Firstly you have spent too much on 4th Generation setup. it'd always much better if you had save or spend on GPU more than CPU and motherboard.

Anyways, i would recommend you to go with 7950/670/r9 270x or if you not into used gambles, then new r9 270x or try to find used but in warranty Card on PG. even you can have used 7970 in 21K, market of AMD GPUs dropped huge to cheap gambles.

Vram these days matters a lot, most heavy or popular titles requires 3GB VRAM for smooth gameplay. 1GB is nowhere or obselete right now. the best buy would be at least 3GB vram Card. 2 GB still lacks. AMD's 7950/270x/7970 are all 3GB cards, performance wise they topped with ULTRA Level Gaming and these days cheap too. Nvidia are expensive and mostly are with 2GB VRAM so i think AMD GPUs that i mentioned above are bang for Bucks/ .........avail the opportunity my friend.

I was too on a budget, and did lots of searching and reading and ended up buying the brand new Gigabyte R9 270 2GB DDR5 [non-x version] for under 21K from Hafeez center Lahore... I am amazed with its performance. I have 3rd Gen Core i5 and I am able to play all the recent titles like Evil Within, Ryse and Shadow of Mordor at 1080p all maxed out at avg FPS of 30ish...

If you are on a tight budget I will recommend R9 270 GPU.

PS.. Tho GigaByte R9 270 is lock at 1050MHZ max when overclocked [gigabyte stock oc at 975Mhz] its easily on par with 270x or even beat 270x when OC'd to 1050Mhz.. :)

Either time was high or i was high but i wanted to buy the best motherboard for future investment and don't regret it. I bought i3 because it was more then enough for me and 4th gen tech was new in the market and i wondered i'll replace the i3 in near future when prices are down! which i'm going to replace really soon! Why i bought it? its a big discussion that's been discussed on my pc unboxing thread
For reference:>>http://www.pakgamers.com/forums/f139/[unboxing]-asus-gryphon-z87-build-183306/ Its has to updated lots of upgrades are done!

So you recommended three GPUs and 670 is gtx 670? am i right? what about gtx 750 or ti version?
secondly what is the difference between r9 270x and without x version is it overclocked and without overclocked thing same like nvidea ti?
i can handle gambles but first i have to come to my final choice!

thanks for the detailed explanation for VRAM it made my concept clear! all three cards look gud on benchmarks on internet, what brand will you recommend for all three? im personally looking for ASUS as there warranty structure is good and there technology too!

can you recommend me a SLI or Crossfire Setup of GPUs under 15 or 20k too?

any problem with AMD configuration like driver compatibility issues as seen many on internet!

Thats great looking to your experience that card looks a beast! what about temps?
any driver or configuration problem?
What was your second choice if you would have not bought this card or what gpus you had in your list when researched?
can you help me with the reservation i have with GPU that i have quoted above to nafu?

If not 270 then I would have gone with 750Ti ;) since 20K was all that I had. I have never used an AMD/ATi card before and also heard about their driver issues and tricky GPU setting and also no PhysX, but its quite opposite...I haven't faced a single issue with the card or the drivers or any intense GPU setting... I am keeping it all stock setting and its performing great.

I have always used nvidia's flagship cards {currently waiting for my GTX 980 to arrive} but wanted a decent GPU to play some titles but I might keep this for a while :)

Now to answer your questions:
1. Second choice: GTX 750Ti
2.Temps: on idle it says 35c max and under load [2 to 3 hours gaming sessions] max I have seen so far is 58c
3. Drivers are clean and stable... no tweaking or anything required.
3. As nafu said... AMD cards are pretty much the best bang for your buck and I would say if you have a nice deal on 7970 you should consider it.. since its pretty much the R9 280x

I could have gone with a faster used card like 7970 myself but could not find a local deal and also wanted to get a new card since I was planning to sell it end of next month at a minimum loss.

First Of All The Concept Of 2GB and 3GB Etc. They all Are Marketing Stunts I have Asus Direct CU II GTX 770 2GB!! and a i5 4670k, there is no game i can't play on max settings Watch Dogs, Evil Within (Proof is My Youtube Channel) Etc. all on 1080p and 60fps.I will always recommend nvidia Cause I Never had any driver, hardware or any kind of issue with nvidia so, + it has Cuda which will help in your Programs like after effects, illustrator cs7 that you mentioned and more.

r9 270x is best in ur budget
Thanks, I'll consider it but its looks out of my budget!
your opinion on r7 260x?
should i go fro sli or crossfire?
if i shud what are your recommended setup for it in my budget?
you can share your thoughts too from what i have written below!

Ok your experience is good with AMD that means green signal for AMD! Till now looking to my research i have come to a point the reasonable good card i can get in my budget is 750 ti and r9 270x is expensive r9 270 is coming exactly on 20k on most online website! that mean thats the last thing i can buy!

i want to consider more cards also and thinking about sli and crossfire too as my MB is supported for both and i bought it for this reason only!

now i have seen some good reviews for r7 260x against 750 ti!

what do you think about r7 260x its around 15 to 16k

you can find bit used 270x in under 20k its better then 260 and 750ti etc so try to get ur hands on it its better then all
but if you want 260 then not a bad choice but its not asolid performer and at max settings they cant perform but n order to get max performence which s a bit future proof then atleast 270x or 760 is good 760 os out of budget so i recomend 270x as i am using it and playing everything at max without compromising on frames

they work well on normal gpu and i have even used these software 4 months on my i3 they worked well while make a video or doing any graphic work but the result comes in the end when you save the project or convert the prepared video to finalize and at that time you sit back for hours to convert it!
i have your mentioned cards on my list and are in consideration. thanks
yeh i will upgrade its the next upgrade after gpu.

My concept is clear on VRAM they make difference but it depends on the game or what type of working you are doing!
you have the best of the best card why will it not meet the exceptions or not work for what it is made to do, i have taken all cards in my consideration that are recommended by my all fellow members and working on them will choose the best card soon.
sure will check the channel. thanks
