Need some career and college advice..Please help

Hey guys,

Iam currently in a college doing AS level.My subjects are physics chem and maths.I plan to go private from next year.Now the problem arises in this.I want to change my career course from science to commerce.I want to change my subjects to economics,accounts,business studies and mathematics.Iam really confused on what to do.

Should I go private from next year and repeat my AS level taking these subjects.That would mean i would be one year behind.Or should I continue with my subjects and try to score good in them.My main target is LUMS university and I want to study from there.If I continue with my science subjects,will LUMS accept my admission application.I want to do CA course.

All i want to know is that is it worth it to repeat the year and do commerce if i want to go to LUMS to do ACCA.Or will LUMS accept me for their ACCA course.

No need to switch if u want to pursue for ACCA in future..ACCA requirement is any 2 subjects of A-levels or 4 subjects of AS-level.
Dont know abt lums

Have you even checked which undergrad courses are offered by LUMS? Im quite sure CA/ACCA isnt one of them. Check: lums.edu.pk

If you want to go for LUMS, BSc Economics or Accounting and Finance will most probably be the options available to you. Once again, please confirm this from their website.

Dont leave college, its one of the many different things in life to experience. You will meet people who are at your level and you can also make new friends who can act as contacts in various industries.

Also do not change majors, stick to science subjects and decide to go in business only and after you have done bachelors in engg. Why cuz business studies is crap, everything you learn can be learnt on the first day of KSE or LSE. As for Engg or Medical, its a profession that will always be in demand and make good halal money. The business field is also saturated of good jobs and you are left with jobs that are on a temporary basis.

If you take business now you will be limiting your options indefinitely. Make sure you take science subjects in your Alevels (Phy,Chem, Bio(if you can manage it) )

Forget about the social issues an all.I have many other social interaction outlets such as gym etc.I have decided on going privately from next year.I just want to know that will the reputed universities for Charted accountancy course accept my admission application if i do it privately(the commerce subjects that is)

Give it thought, dont rush into a decision, and please dont think a college is a place to socialize. With a market with so little jobs it is important to have contacts, a gym cant give you the kind of contacts that an institution like college would give.

Anyways its your decision, but please again, dont rush, or think irrationally. Good Luck !

Dude whether you do A levels privately or from a school it does not matter.All they want is a good result and secondly if you do your A levels in commerce or science you will still be able to get admission in ACCA and CA both.

If you are asking about a good career in finance,try "Institute of chartered ship brokers" There arent many in Pakistan,whereas ACCA are now too many.
You can then work in transport industry,charg ships and freighters all over the world.Its a big business.

Ok brothers thanks all for your advice,really appreciate it.From the input and discussion with other people,I have decided to stay with science for Alevels and then will do CA course in university.Oh and I am going to go private next year,College is too hectic for me.
