ASUS's P5Q3 is an excellent DDR3 supporting LGA-775 motherboard and it was being sold a month back in PG's marketplace for the same price of 6K. Find a good DDR3 LGA-775 motherboard is actually very rare, you'd only be lucky if you find one.

Neither of above mentioned motherboard worth buying (IMO). I'd rather suggest get something in used, good overclocking motherboard that too with DDRIII support are difficult to find as Ali stated above.

Will a DDRII motherboard do to you?

spending 6k on lga 775 is a waste anyways. better change the whole setup after selling your board and processor. that is if you already have 6k.

I dont have more money to invest.and to change whole pc i have to invest lot more even if i sell my current motherboard and cpu.my motherboard is asus p5gc mx which supports only 3gb 500mhz ram.overclocking is my second priority but 1st is to buy mb which supports at least 4gb high speed ram.

I think you have e8400 which would go for a good price. if you manage to sell both your board and processor for 10k plus the 6k that you already have, you can easily go for a sandybridge i3. DDR3 rams are cheaper so you would save some here too. and if you don't mind you used products, you might be able to get all these for much lower than you expect.

Man your motherboard supports up till 8GB memory. The reason why only 3GB is being recognized is because I guess you're using Windows 7 32-bit. Whereas Windows 7 64-bit recognizes all the memory above 3GB. Are you running a 4GB memory kit?

Negative! There're total three revision of ASUS P5GC MX, the very first one supports only 2GB of RAM, not even 3GB. Whereas other two can support up-to 4GB of memory. :)

You know, you wont get any performance increase from ddr2-ddr3. no use jumping except ddr3 is a lil bit cheap.
True, but currently he's stuck at 533/400MHz speed as his motherboard doesn't support 667MHz by default, let 800MHz alone. :p
