Hey guys,

I'm in dire need of help. I just moved to Australia and I freaking miss battlefield hahahah. Can anyone tell me how to build a respectable gaming rig for around 800-1000$ which could hopefully play battlefield on ultra settings. I know ultra settings seem a bit exaggerated and hopeful, but then again, a man can dream hahaha. Anyways, looking forward to your suggestions.

Hahahah dude, I'm living in Sydney. I actually live quite close to the city central but the thing is I honestly don't have no clue as to how to go about it. Apparently mobos are really important. And there is also this magical thing known as Over clocking. Bloody hell, to be honest I'm quite a noob at all of this. So a detailed guide would be really appreciated mate :p

tough luck man coz according to this website these prices are maxed out! try finding some mom and pop store or go hunting on some international websites like newegg which deliver in foreign countries. Any way you cut it, with you r requirement of ULTRA youre' looking at a 1.2k rig atleast.

PS: tried it. Like guzzling diesel and petrol mixed with paint thinner. lucky to be alive :D

grimr3aper : take a Abuses will lead to baner at m system specs. Replace the GPU with a 560ti/AMD 7850 (gigabyte/HIS) and mobo with Asrock H77M. That'll fall comfortably within your range. Also, thats the planned upgrade path Im thinkin of taking so...

Gskill - DDR3-1600 8GB Dual Channel [RipjawsX] F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL - Catalogue | Adelaide Online Computers
Intel - Intel i5-2500K Core i5 Processor, 3.3GHz, LGA1155, Quad Core - Catalogue | Adelaide Online Computers
Gigabyte - Gigabyte / Z77 / 4 x DDR3 / 2 x PCI-E3.0 x 16 / 4 x SATA3 - Catalogue | Adelaide Online Computers
Gigabyte - Gigabyte ATI HD 7850 OC Edition PCI-E 3.0, 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 - Catalogue | Adelaide Online Computers

Those are the main things you'll need to build a decent gaming computer (other is a power supply which I didn't find on that store), if you're not into overclocking then disregard those specifications. Instead of Z77/k variant Intel CPU get a H61/67/H77 with a non-k variant CPU. And if you manage to save around 560AUD, put your hands on this graphics card. BF3 at ultra you say? - No problem.

By the way, NEVER compare NewEgg prices with other stores.

Oh and I'm now thinking of buying the components from America and getting them shipped over here. It seems to be a much cheaper alternate.

If you're not an overclocker then an i5 3550 would do. With something like a 7850 or 560Ti and 8GB 1600MHz RAM and a 600W PSU (Xigmatek or Thermaltake).

You would be raped in customs, not a wise decision at all.
Ummmm not really, anything below a 1000 AUD isn't charged any duties or customs over here. So, I'm all set especially considering that the australian dollar is stronger then the american one as of this moment.

Baghi: What do you think I should go for in terms of PSU??

Well that sounds good, but then comes the shipping hassle, the cost of shipping. You may be lucky if you could find something on Amazon that ships internationally.

Ali Man: Actually I'm going to ship the things to my cousin and he is going to send it to me over here. The thing is there are some killer sales that happen on thanksgiving and whatnot. So, I'm sure I can snag some good bargains if I wait around until then and get stuff from there.

Alright. Well do check out deals at OCN and hardforum, they're updated daily and are as good as it gets.
