Ormara is a port city (25° 16' 29N 64° 35' 10E) located in the Makran or coastal region of the Balochistan province of Pakistan. It is located 340 km west of Karachi and 280 km east of Gwadar on the Arabian Sea. The population of Ormara is estimated to be over 40,000 in 2005. Over 99% is Muslim. Most of the population of Ormara is Baloch. The Jinnah naval base of Pakistan Navy is located at Ormara. There is also an airport.

Ormara is an old coastal town. Its historical routes are linked with Alexander the Great, who stayed here with his army for a few days on his way back from India, in 400 BC. One of his generals "Ormoz" died here and the present day Ormara was named after him. For a few centuries, Ormara remained a battle field between the Baloch Sardar (local feudal) and foreign aggressors. Before independence, it was part of the state of Las Bela and afterward it became part of Makran Division. Being an isolated town, it remained undeveloped, however with the naval presence around, life has taken a positive change for the locals. It has a population of about 40 thousand people and still offers a traditional look. Livelihood of most of its resident is fishing, few of them are also working in Middle East countries

The Hingol National Park is spread over the districts of Lasbela, Awaran and Gwadar in Balochistan. It covers an area of 619,043 hectares with about 6000-8000 households dependent on Park Resources. It is basically southern extension of Sibi desert having extensive patches of drift sand scattered throughout the region. The Hingol river runs through the national Park and before disgorging into the sea forms an estuary which provides habitat to a number of migratory water birds and marsh crocodiles.

uhh so i did a bit of searching here and there and here's more...on the princess of hope

Highway of Hope (Makran Coastal Highway)

(By Faiqa Abdul Hayee)

When we hear the word “princess”, the first person who comes to mind is Princess Diana. It would be hard to dispute that she still lives in the hearts of so many people across the world. But thanks to the Markan Coastal Highway, people travelling on this road can now get a chance to see a glimpse of the gorgeous Sassi, also known as the Princess of Hope, no less in stature than Princess Diana. The whole journey is so scenic that it feels as if one is travelling through pre-historic times. I wonder if any producer from Hollywood had ever travelled through this route, because many historic movies could have been made here.

The construction of the Makran Coastal Highway will not only generate enormous economic activities in the region, but will also pave the way for creating employment opportunities for the poor living along the 800km-long coastal belt.

Then there is the fort of Sassi Punno whose construction dates back to 6000 to 8000BC. It is widely believed that the Princess of Hope waited here for her prince Punno hoping that he would come, but with the passage of time she transformed into a figure made out of stone. One interesting feature of the figure is that her visage is facing Kech (Turbat), the region Punno belonged to.

Folktales of Pakistan are full of stories about unrequited love, having colourful characters. Myths and legends have a unique place in our culturally rich history. The stories associated with these legends contribute to cultural evolution. Sassi-Punnu is a very famous folk love story and one of the favourites of film producers in the subcontinent. It was first written by Nawab Mir Mohammad Maasoom with the title Masnawi Husn-o-Naz during Emperor Akbar’s tenure (1556-1605). Qazi Soorthi re-wrote the story in Mohammad Shah Rangeela’s rule (1719-48). Shah Abdul Latif Bhattai as well included this story in his spiritual classic Sindhi literature.

Sassi was the only daughter of King Adam Khan of Bhambour, Sindh. At her birth astrologers predicted that she would prove to be a curse to the royal family’s prestige. The king ordered that the child be put in a wooden chest with a taweez tied to her neck and a lot of jewellry and gold coins as her living expenditures, and thrown into the Indus River. And so was done.

The chest was seen floating on the water by Atta, a washerman. He considered the child a gift from God and took her home and adopted her as his child. Many years passed by and the king did not have another child, so he decided to get married again. When he heard that the daughter of Atta, Sassi, was as beautiful as the angels, the king summoned her to his palace.

Sassi was still wearing the taweez (amulet), which made the king recognize his daughter immediately. He asked Sassi to live with him, but she refused. She wanted to acquire knowledge.

During this time she heard about a trader from Makran who had a garden with a huge monument, the inner portion of which was adorned with exquisite paintings. When Sassi visited the place to admire the art, she instantly fell in love with a painting, which was a masterpiece. She soon discovered that it was the portrait of Prince Punnu, son of King Jam Arao, the ruler of Turbat, Makran. Sassi became desperate to meet Punnu. She ordered that any businessman coming from Turbat should be presented before her. There was a flutter within the business community as the news spread and someone informed Punnu about Sassi’s love for him. He assumed the garb of a businessman and carrying a bagful of different perfumes came to meet Sassi. The moment Sassi saw him she recognized him. Punno also fell in love with her. They decided to get married.

At the wedding, Pannu’s brothers forced him to drink different types of liquor. When he became drunk, they carried him on a camel’s back and returned to their hometown Turbat. Sassi couldn’t bear the grief of separation and ran barefoot towards the city of Turbat. To reach the city she had to cross miles of desert land, the journey that was full of different kinds of dangers.

Sassi’s end was similar to that of the bird called Kaknoos. It is said that when this bird sings, fire leaps out from its wings and it is reduced to ashes in its own flames.

Balochistan, so far unexplored, offers a lot to tourists, historians and visitors. Those who have not visited the coastal highway are missing out on a great visual treat.

There are three famous mud volcanoes a few miles east of the highway near Hinglaj, which are said to be the biggest mud volcanoes in the world, and are considered sacred by Hindus, who call them ‘Chandra Gupt’ and make regular pilgrimages to the site to offer prayers. These volcanoes erupt periodically.

The new deep-sea port and the coastal highway mark a turning point in the country’s history. These projects would change the economic situation of Balochistan and the country, and will also further enrich its cultural heritage.

Well the pics taken in my profile are solely from this Place Hingole and believe me its one of the beautiful sight to see and beautiful point to seek peace and at the same time having a party over there. We use to go there every now and then we just went there to have a bbq nite and believe me the night is so beautiful that u will feel like being in a mysterious place where u can hear the silence as well.

There are many places in Pakistan mysterious and mind boggling like KALASH (Kaafiristan), Dhodhi path (Comes after Naran Valley) LuluSar (On the Highest Altitude) and many mystries are related to these Places.
