My PC has been acting up lately...while playing games or sometimes even while surfing and shit the PC would freeze for half a second, will give a jerk in whatever sound is playing and then will stop providing visual display.. at first i thought it was a problem with my GPU since its fairly old (GTX 580) and i thought i could be dying but i monitored its activity and it seems pretty normal... the temp seems fine even while running games and shit....honestly though i plowed through DMC5 and it worked okay 45 - 50 FPS no stuttering on medium/high settings and temp staying in between 85 - 89 (max)....the crashes got more severe during this past week like if i would game for anywhere between 3 - 4 hours it would def give me a crash somewhere.. I have a hunch that its the PSU thats going down... My PSU is a thermaltake(TR2 - 600W power supply with 23 amp on +12V1 and 20 amp on +12V2)....

what do you guys say? :flame:

could be ram too. honestly, you'd have to check one by one.
I'v put the GPU out and running the system on the integrated card... seems to be working okay.. but from time to time i can hear this sound coming from the system which sounds like an aircraft taking off or something... I'v got 8 GB ram i doubt its a problem with ram though... idk tbh xD is there a way to check?

It could also be a malware or trojan virus! running in the background and sucking the CPU or the GPU!

But other than that you try to swapping out your PSU with friends in your system

Also rule out any software by reinstalling windows and using old drivers for GPU. Reinstalling windows is a big hassle but sometimes software is the culprit. Sometimes newer Drivers cause problems on older cards. Try the drivers that came in the CD.

yea thats the first thing i did... how ever i didnt roll back to previous drivers because my system had been running absolutely fine on the current drivers since like 5 6 months... My computer is pretty much clean at this point..new windows..and shit plus i also had an antivirus installed so i doubt anything could'v made its way inside..

Yar the thing is i was monitoring my CPU and GPU through openhardware monitor and they both seemed normal.. so i dont think its like that..

Okay so a little update... I ran the intel processor diagnostic and apparently my RAMs and the processor is in a pretty sweet shape... I ran speccy and HWMonitor to check the volts on my 12 rail and apparently that seems normal as well they were above 11v near 12.4 or something....all of this was done without the GPU.. the system worked fine although one of the fans was raging a bit..I am still not sure what might be the cause of the problem... i dont wana go get a new PSU and then later be told that it wasnt actually the PSU that was causing the issues

That airplane noise is probably a wire getting too close to a fan blade or occasionally touching it, I had that too. Check your hdd, maybe its got a bad sector or something. if not then only the psu and gpu are the two things to be tested. you can easily test your gpu on a friends system and see if it develops the same problem or you could check the psu.

I had the same problem as you a long, long time ago.

My HDD had a bad sector in it and that was the sole culprit. Got it fixed and I'm still running that HDD now and everything is alright.

Use HDD Sentinel to check if everything's ok with HDD.

Okay every1 i got it fixed... apparently the problem wasnt with the hardware...no wonder everything checked out okay.. The problem was with the Nvidia Drivers.. i rolled back to the previous version and for some reason the nvidia HD audio was an issue as well so i had to get it off my system too....These were the main reason why my pc kept jacking off in the middle of games and shit..

Played Sekiro 6 hours straight, gave it a stress test 30 mins... everything seems fine Alhamdolilah.. just wanted to share so that some1 might benefit from it in the future..
thanks every1 who helped :) cheers
