Salam guys.
I have recently relocated to Bahria Town Phase 8 Rawalpindi near the Bahria international hospital. In our street there are mutiple PTCL DPs and also I can see PTCL BB in WiFi connections when i switch on WiFi in my laptop but when I applied for PTCL connection, they said they have no coverage here.
I want to know what are my options here. Can i still get PTCL somehow or are there some other options. Thanks in anticipation. Irfan

PTCL agents aren't always trained - especially their female ones. I called once, got a male agent. He said Phase 8 has fiber everywhere.

Then called later. Female agent. Said "no, Phase 8 doesn't have dinner". She also sounded so uninterested in the call that it felt like I was forcing her to work.

Meanwhile, was told that phase 8 does have fiber.

Called the final time, male agent, said there's fiber.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Edit: fiber, not dinner. Thanks, Captain Wajji. [emoji1751]

Saw your PM.

Best thing to do would be to visit the relevant exchange, and apply for a connection there. Going through the helpline will be painfully slow.

I talked to PTCL agent and they said that feasibility is done from exchange and they are the ones saying there is no coverage in my area. Guess I'll have to visit the exchange on Monday and see what happens.

Irfan I also recently shifted to Bahria Town Phase 8 and I also live 2 minutes away from Bahria International Hospital on Road D. After happily staying with Nayatel for over 6 years I had to part ways after moving here and apply for this awful PTCL connection in hope for GPON or VDSL at the very least but came to know that they also refused me service stating it is not feasible. The PTCL DP is right outside my gate and I have found it to be hardly occupied so I am not really sure why would they refuse me service. My neighbour next door is using VDSL and told me that he will give me the number of the PTCL lineman who will have it installed after taking some kharcha pani. I absolutely hate this style of working but I guess I will have to take this option for now because more than gaming I am a software developer and I need it badly for my work purpose. Let me know if you are able to get something done without this kharcha pani style of getting things done.

Go to the Maintenance Office of Bahria Town Phase-8 and ask them for PTCL connection, complain about the same. Maintenance Office is at the Bahria Homes exit on top towards Japan Road, I think its called.

I did got in touch with them but whatever I said fell on deaf ears . All they had to say was to get in touch with PTCL exchange to get this sorted out. On a side note I did got in touch with the said lineman and after paying 3k I have gotten a VDSL connection in my home. All done in couple of hours after paying the "Kharcha Pani"

Damn. After reading the last two posts, I don't feel so good.

I applied for a GPON connection last Thursday. Still haven't gotten the MDN number yet (feasibility is supposed to take 24 hours). Instead, my dad seems to be getting calls (who didn't even apply for the connection) for the application updates, but the helpline says it's pending.

I'm not going to pay kharcha paani - I'm going to keep buzzing the helpline. I asked them how long I have to wait because I've been calling them since last week because somebody at the exchange can't do their job, and they said that they'll hopefully get back to me in 48 hours, and that I won't have to call.

Let's see.

Also, the calls my dad is getting are from the exchange, and when my dad asks them who applied for the connection, they take my name - not my dad's - but they have my dad's number in their record, and not mine. I have 1236 fix that yesterday, hoping I'll get an update, but my dad received a call again, today.

Damn it! PTCL! You have ONE job! And the houses next to ours (same street) have PTCL (I assume it's GPON but I don't know) so what's taking them one week to conduct the feasibility is beyond me... The agents said that this is abnormal and they'll escalate it.

Sigh. Hell-o to the future!

Part of the reason why I think PTCL is not doing its job properly here is the fact that the don't have competition in Phase 8. I have been living in Chaklala Scheme 3 since 2011 and was using Nayatel but because of the nature of my job when I decided to get a separate PTCL VDSL there for family they were extremely efficient in taking care of the whole thing for me. I guess if and when Nayatel or any other competitive FTTH company decides to expand the services here PTCL will become much more efficient.

I guess Bahria's services have gone down the drain like PTCL too. They used to be helpful. You'd have to go through them for applying PTCL connection until 2-3 years ago as far as I remember.

I recently found out the Nayatel will be coming to my area in a month, they were laying cables a few days back. So i have decided to wait for nayatel instead of installing PTCL.

On side note, as soon as my application for PTCL was rejected on feasibility grounds, i started receiving calls from witribe and some ridiculous ads messages. So it means PTCL is selling our information to these companies. That just shows how low PTCL has gone. So i would rather stay away from such a company.

I live on Road D as well and I have had the same experience. However, Nayatel have created a hub right infront of my home. I am not sure if they can cover homes on other side of the road but i am hopeful that they do.

They can. Shouldn't be an issue.

No, Trans World guy told me today that they're not offering to the homes across since that wasn't their route and probably there aren't any wires infront of my house. The opposite side is being covered though. I was happy and about to place my order today but then... :(

Can someone please PM me the number of PTCL lineman in my area. My family doesn't want to wait anymore and wants the service installed as soon as possible. Thanks.

How long have you been waiting for?

I finally managed to get the guys to install the ONT on Saturday (after we managed to get them to do internal wiring on Friday, and the guy said he'll return later that evening but came on Saturday after about 6 different calls)...

But - the connection isn't activated. I did get the message that my payment of 4k has been accepted - so now, I have to wait for some unknown time.

The guy who I managed to bug was Faiz Dhandla - in the exchange office in Phase 4 Pindi. Be nice to him, since he's only one guy - and is responsive and all, but don't keep your hopes high. If he says "evening", pester him in the evening. If he says tomorrow evening, bug him after then. But don't raise your voice because you know... It can backfire, and you don't have any choice in Bahria.

I asked them what's taking them so long - they said they're only doing two installations a day, and they have a huge backlog of a few hundred connections.
