Before you stand in line for immigration at the Dubai airport, make sure you go for the eye scan.( it's located on the same level as the immigrations desk, just a walk away)You will be guided if you ask from the informations desks or the airport staff. This is mandatory for almost everyone arriving. It should take you a few mins to get through this if you are smart enough to reach the eye scan first because people usually aren't aware of this and have to return from standing in line for immigration, and gets REALLY crowded once everyone realises this.

Well, I have a very different personal experience than most of you. I've traveled alone at the age of 15 and 16(Went to Malaysia this past month) and to my surprise they didn't mess around with me at all, in fact they even didn't thoroughly check my luggage but then again I traveled through Lahore and Islamabad airport. Everyone was very friendly with me, as for your questions both of them shall be allowed to go in "LUGGAGE", sweets might be allowed in hand carry as well but I don't recommend taking the risk(I did bring sweets in my hand carry once).
