If your TV isnt a smart one.

You should just get those SMART DEVICES that you can connect to TVs, that'll turn them into android TVs

Well, I have a Chromecast through which I stream movies and stuff directly to my TV. Don't know how you can do this with a portable hard drive.

Most of the tvs play directly from usb, most of the famous formats, wonder what problem are u facing unless your tv is very very old, my 5 years old samsung 32" led tv plays anything ... Well mostly

maybe you should look into buying an andriod box
