Help needed for Macbook Pro 13"
Assalamulaikum all.
I've got a friend's macbook pro with me which just stopped working some time back. We took it to the iraffles shop in pindi and they diagnosed it to be the hdd at fault and gave an estimate of 12k for the replacement to be ordered on booking. Then we took it to Pak Mac Computers (or whatever its name is) in F-8 and they too diagnosed it to be the hdd and gave an estimate of 12k for a generic hdd and 28 freakin K for an apple approved hdd! (Load of bull, I know) So, we went ahead and bought a toshiba 320gb hdd for 4.9k from media intl' and they installed it in the mac. Even after installing it, the same issue was there. The hdd just doesnt show up in the os setup or the disk utility. When the setup starts, it asks me to choose the hdd to install the os in and the list is blank. So, the media intl' people were kind enough to take the hdd back. Now when I run the system's original hdd on my pc, it shows up fine in the bios and even in windows. It just doesnt open in windows because of the unsupported format. The hard disk's fine though it doesnt show any data in it because I guess one of the guys we previously went to formatted it when they took it out but that is not an issue. I used macdrive 9 on windows to view and access the hdd and the hdd is working fine. Now, upon googling, I found out that alot of people have had this issue with their 13" macs and was resolved by replacing the sata cable for the hdd.
Now my question is, where can I find mac's sata cable here in Islamabad of Rawalpindi. Or if anyone can suggest me an apple expert to goto and buy the cable who know's what they're doing and is not a rip off, please let me know.
