recently I got a laptop but the problem is that everywhere I take it the Wifi more or less works but at home where I have a whole bunch of WiFi capable devices ranging from an iPad 2 to 2 other laptops and more devices running on my wifi networks but my new laptop simply won't work with my wifi no matter what I try and neither will ethernet pick up with it. I have tried removing all my previous softwares on it like hotspot shield and other proxy devices and have set every network to default / normal value as best I can but the laptop just won't work.

what can i do?

And by not working I mean it isn't letting me open a single site neither the 192.168.xx.xx pages of any of the networks even though I am connected to the network and it shows connection / signal icon in the tray =/

using windows 7 32 bit.

my guess your dns is not configured go to your router page from any other device and then write down the dns address then open the network and sharing center go to your connection. click properties then internet protocol version 4 properties. add the dns address over there. should work imo

May b a diferent dns is already set in ur laptop, clear it, check automatic dns.
Check what ip address ur laptop is geting after conecting to the lan? If its not same as ur router dhcp provides like 192.168.x.x and it shows like 169.x.x.x or anyother ip beside 192.x.x.x, then ur laptop lan is not recognizing ur netwrk due to wrong/out of order ethernet cable.

have you tried manually configuring your IP setting?
It happened with my pc too once. My router was configured to provide access to 4 devices only!
check the setting of router on some other laptop!

I'd go with the DNS. Check to see if the DNS is not set to some value. Make it automatic or go with Google DNS.

tried configuring the DNS servers, gave the laptop a static IP and even setup the default gateway and all to no avail. Still the same issue =/

Frist try updating your Laptop LAN and WLAN Drivers and then report back, hopefully ive something in my mind that might resolve your problem man.

Also share with us which laptop are you using (Model No.) ? Which security key is set on your Router (WEP,WPA-PSK,WPA2-PSK)?

Downloading all the drivers from the official site, will report back with hopefully good news : D but I never had to do this before even though I have had many people come with stock Windows 7 drivers of laptops and all.
