Xbox 360 hacker, C4Eva (Commodore4Eva) has released a video which shows Microsoft’s latest attempt at blocking piracy being completely defeated. The XGD3 format was meant to be the latest and greatest step in both preventing piracy on the console, and providing game developers an extra gigabyte of storage space for games. However, if the video is to be believed, and honestly this guy is quite reliable, the new protection has been completely defeated.
C4Eva has also developed new software, which allows you to burn the discs, as the new format changes the layer break. According to him, the game partition on the disc has been expanded to use all the available space, but at the end of the day, it is still just a standard DVD+R dual-layer disc.
The custom firmware is yet to be released.
