GTA:MP in Development!
What is GTA:MP?
GTA:Multiplayer is an alternative GTA V modification just like SA:MP (San Andreas Multiplayer) where you can play with your friends or other players with an internet connection. Players will be able to have their own servers or join the existing ones with different gamemodes such as role-play, deathmatch, parkour, freeroam etc. This project is being developed by an independent development team from Austria, Germany and Switzerland and in no way endorsed by Take-Two Interactive. Although they've mentioned the official launch date on their homepage but after some digging, I discovered that there's no launch date for now.
The main scripting language of GTA:MP will be JavaScript along with the world's most powerful JS engine V8. GTA:MP's source codes are opensource so the public can contribute to this massively multipplayer mod. This independent development team has established a community for this mod where they're constantly releasing updates and looking for beta testers.
FAQ
I'm excited about this alternative mod because honestly GTA Online isn't of my type. I've always enjoyed the individual servers with different gamemodes, rules and regulations - like different communities. Please post below and tell me what do you feel about this!Q : Will we be able to use GTA:MP with a cracked version of the game ?
A : To be able to play GTA:MP, you will have to be connected to a social club account which has GTA 5. No matter if you are running a cracked version of the game or not.
Note that only one person can be connected to a social club account and not many at the same time.
Q : How can I play GTA:MP ?
A : GTA:MP is in development which means that only the beta testers have access to the client.
Q : How can I become a beta tester ?
A : At the moment, GTA:MP is not looking for new beta testers.
Q : When is GTA:MP going to be released ?
A : There is currently no launch date for GTA:MP. Maybe you can expect a first public release during this summer, but you shouldn't rely on this.
Q : Will it be possible to use server-/clientside mods ?
A : Yes you will be able to develop server side plugins in the first versions. Clientside plugins will be supported in later versions.
Q : How many Slots will GTA:MP have ?
A : That's still to be announced. The Team will do their best to support as many slots as possible.
Q : When will other scripting languages get added ?
A : The Team plans to implement more scripting languages at a later point. However, they do not want to put the highest priority on implementing many scripting languages at the start.
There are many aspects that are more important than having multiple scripting languages. As the project will be open source at a later point, other developers may implement scripting languages (using modules) too, but dates for that are also TBA.
Q : Will GTA:MP only work with the Steam version ?
A : GTA:MP works with the latest version of every GTAV type.
No matter if it's the R* warehouse, Steam, Retail or whatever version. Additionally, GTA:MP features full support for Steam which means you're able to play with the Steam overlay in every (even R* Warehouse, Retail...) version. If you want to use the Steam overlay, you have to own GTA:V on steam (Some users bought the Steam and R* Warehouse/Retail versions). So GTA:MP supports ALL(!) legit versions of the game!
Q : Will NPC peds be simulated or an option to do so ?
A : None of the NPC features of stock GTA V will be enabled in the first versions of GTA:MP.
