Pindi Boy.
As I have recently bought Gigabyte 7770 gpu, I just want a little information about the overclocking.

It says it's already oc to 1050mhz (1)

There's an option in the Catalyst Control Center.

Performance > Overdrive.

What if I do cherh chaarh with these things?

Will my GPU burn? :p

Just wanted to test the performance difference if I increase these bars and the fan speed etc.

Just dont overdo ur overclock.
Try raising clockrate slowly and check for artifacts by using stress testing softwares, like furmark etc.

As its already an overclocked version..
u really dont need to overclock it.
u will not even feel the difference..
then whats the use of the extra power consumption and heaT?????

I would suggest you to not overclock and mess with this new gpu. only play games

Use MSI Afterburer.
Increase only the "Core Clock" and never the "Memory Clock".

Keep Monitoring the Temps, if after OC they go up then revert immediately.

Be safe.

and congrats on ur 7770 (y)

It was already 1100.

I overclocked it to 1200 and still the idle temps were normal I mean they didn't change when I increased 100mhz.

Should keep it 1200, increase it or decrease it?

It's good to be adventurous with your hardware. Increase the clocks as much as you want/can. But don't make huge jumps like the 1100 to 1200 increase you mentioned. First increase the clocks by 10 Mhz, then stress test with "GPUtool". If the card is stable, increase the clock by 10 Mhz more. Keep doing this till you can't OC anymore with the stock voltage. Then, if you want to go a step further (BE VERY CAUTIOUS HERE), download MSI Afterburner, and increase your card's voltage one step more than it currently is, that should give you more overclocking headroom. Remember, overvolting doesn't kill the card, but overheating DOES. So, monitor your temps, and STOP if they exceed 85-90 degrees.

Edit: Here's a step-by-step guide: http://techomie.com/2012/08/25/how-to-overclock-graphics-cards/

I think I screwed it :/

I increased it till 1300 and started playing Hitman Absolution :p

25gb game :D

Then I got a red screen and I turned off the power supply immediately.

What software should I use as GPU tool?

Well, if I increase from 1100 to 1150mhz, would that cause a difference?

Like difference in gaming FPS and all? :/

The temperature is 71 even without overclocking :/

Now I should check ke does it heats more than 71 if I overclock, right?

I thought it would get updated. LOL

bro i dont think it would be 71 without overclocking there must be some settings still left to high settings try to bring all things on stock

It was 71 when I checked it with the MSI after burner.

Loaded it up till 98% and then temp was 71.

Other then that, while I play games for hours, it never reached 71. :)

Idle temperature is 40.

Don't have a good casing, that might be the factor as well.

A 7770 shouldn't be running that hot. Try increasing the fan speeds in MSI Afterburner. Once you have found a fan speed that gets your temps down to the 60's, then you can overclock. Try reapplying the thermal paste, and rigging up a 120mm high-speed fan to your 7770 instead of the stock fan. I have a 120mm fan on my highly OC'd 6850:

Temps never go above 58 degrees :D

Also, you can download "GPUtool" from techpowerup. And you're forgetting one thing, only core temperature doesn't matter, the VRM temperatures matter as well. So, download GPU-Z and monitor your card's temps with that, because it shows you all 4 or 5 of your card's sensor temperatures. If you see that the core is cool, but the VRM's are hot, then stop overclocking until you can provide adequate cooling to the VRM's, because you WILL damage your card if you let the VRM's get too hot.

The fan is 120mm and why would apply the thermal paste?

I mean just bought it a week ago.

Let it be, don't want to overclock :p haha

Ahhh! Lol! I had NO idea you bought it that recently! :D In that case, you're right, just enjoy your new card and OC when you're comfortable with it :) The temps are still high though, so just get a 120mm side fan to blow onto the GPU.

Yeah, I missed the part about it being new (despite it being the first line of the thread) :p

Still though, IMO warranty doesn't mean a thing if you can't enjoy your hardware like you want :) To each their own I guess. Still, the card is running a little hotter than it should, and reapplying TIM does help.

Again, apologies if I seem to have misled the OP, only meant to help. I assumed everyone knows messing with your GPU will void the warranty. Even overclocking voids the warranty (if you read the fine print :p)

I can't fit a 120mm fan in my casing. hahaha. Just have 2 80mm. :D
