I'm currently using a 300rs Chinese keyboard and I don't really like it all that much. I keep missing keys and the WASD keys have become soft and squishy. I used to use cheap mice as well but I kept having the mouse skip or become unresponsive and I bought a Razer Orochi and I've never been happier.

I have about 6-8ks to spend--I wasn't looking to spend all that much initially but if it lasts me really long, it might be a worthwhile investment. like my expensive peripherals to last really long. I bought my HD555s in 2005 and I still love them. However, I bought my Mx1000 about the same time and it died within a year.

I've narrowed it down to these choices:

Razer Lycosa, Blackwidow and Steelseries 6GV2. The latter two are mechanical keyboards (Blackwidow uses blue cherry keys, while the 6G uses black). The Steel series is for 8900 and the Blackwidow for 6500 so there is a significant price difference.

My suggestion is to buy a cheap a4tech keyboard. Or 6 Rs. 1000 a4tech keyboards and switch them in when they go bad. Actually even 1 will suffice because keyboards don't go bad. Your experience with the Chinese keyboard is the exception not the rule. I'm still using the same focus brand keyboard since 2004!

BTW mice do indeed go bad so they are different. Personally I prefer Rs. 3-400 mice and I buy a new one once a year.

Don't buy the blackwidow. Speaking from personal experience the annoying sound from the mechanical keys is extremely annoying and it doesn't really have any feature which justifies the price.

Have you ever bought expensive mice? Because the difference is definitely noticeable. And keyboard keys do get squishy after a while. I used to use my IBM AT keyboard until I bought a PC with no PS/2 ports. That was awesome to type on. Don't know how it would feel for gaming though.

I also questioned the value of an expensive keyboard for gaming, but the WASD and space keys are definitely getting squeaky and squishy when compared the the Num Pad keys (that haven't been used much). It's annoying to miss keys while playing online games. One mistake can cost. I tried out my old Logitech wireless keyboard and it feels much better to type on. Too bad I can't find the wireless receiver--point being: cheap keyboards are probably crap. Someone using an A4tech mouse won't notice what he's missing until he tries something better. It's probably the same for keyboards as well. Maybe not as much.

Sidewinder is $60 in the USA. Here it's going for more than 8k.

Well no I haven't bought an expensive mouse. But I appreciate your insight. Maybe I'll buy one someday.

Try to find a used Logitech G11.
There are people at PG Market Place who can get you one.
Costs not more than 3k in used ... hence Best value for money keyboard.

'nuff said.

@ Woot

6900 where? It's 13k on Vmart. Not available at Galaxy.

@ abobolilly

A keyboard is the last thing I'll buy used. You never know where it's been ;)

How is the G110?

I'm leaning towards the Steelseries. I've been doing some reading elsewhere and I think it would best suit me. I want something sturdy and durable and I don't think I'll ever use macros. There are enough keys on the keyboard as it is. Having said that, there are times when I feel my mouse could use those extra buttons. I will post my review about it after I use it for a bit.

Just got the keyboard and this is the first time I'm typing on it. It looks almost identical to my previous keyboard, but definately feels different to type on. I might be able to get used to this
Rs 9000 worth? I don't know yet. The keys are definately better to type on compared to my old keyboard which I'm typing on now and making quite a few typos as well. Back to the Steelseries and it seems I'll probably make fewer mistakes since the keys actually feel like they are there. It feels like those old AT keyboards without the click obviously. And it's heavy. Don't like the space key and I have already removed the \ key. Don't need it too often and I can still press it without the key cap. YAY!

Need to find where to keep the key cap without loosing it lol

Yea, the keyboard box is great. Apparently, these keycaps are easy to replace and any Cherry MX keys will fit if I ever feel like changing the look. Pics:
