e-reader?

Anyone here have an e-reader? Kindle, Kobo or the like. Was wondering how theyre doing here in PK.

I got a Kindle. But I bought it from Amazon directly. Have no clue about the market in Pakistan. If you want to know about the features and stuff, I can help you with that, but if you want information on buying it or something, I don't think I'll be of much use.

Hey thanks for replying - I needed info on how to get them in pk etc. I was thinking of the Kobo, heard of it? And do you actually buy the ebooks or find free versions on torrent etc?

^Durid- yeah I had looked at the Nook - seems like a good ereader. Im more interested in the Kobo, especially because someone told me its cheaper than other e-readers and almost has the same functionality. Many people have requested the homeshopping people to get the kobo - lets see what they do about it.

Kindle is good. But if you want something "jack of all trades" buy an ipad..... Its IPS display is simply amazing.

Yea you can get local E-book readers.


Last I checked, Kindle requires you to be an Amazon customer, they won't let you have one unless you're a consistent customer.

Nook is awesome. Far more better than kindle.

I have the sony pocket reader.

The kindle has DRM locks so u cant get books other than the kindle store.

I recommend the Sony Pocket Book. It's pretty good and i'm satisfied with it.

Sony PRS-T1

Hi man, I've ordered a PRS-T1 from a cousin of mine who's coming to Pak in a couple weeks from the UK. The thing is costing around 130 pounds (inc. VAT, which is prolly refundable; not sure how that works).

If you know someone who is coming from the US, that would probably be your best bet though.

I was thinking about getting the Nook Simple Touch, but since it's not easily available in the UK, I've gone with the Sony. Check it out. I think it's currently the lightest ereader on the market, and also one of the thinnest. It can view RSS feed formats as well, which the Nook doesn't have. It also has audio output, which the Nook doesn't have (but this wasn't a big selling point for me, since I use either my phone or iPod shuffle for audio).

I definitely recommend checking it out. Regardless, both the Nook and Sony ereaders are solid choices. I would steer clear from the Kindle. It's not as responsive or as fast as these other two. Plus Amazon locks you into their stupid marketplace. I'm sure there's a workaround for that, but why even bother going through the hassle?
