so it will work on DirectX 9 as well? so need to buy the Nvdia 8800GTX? and DX10 will work on 7800GTX GPU? I thought only 8800GTX GPUs support DX10 :S

No inferno DX10 will not work on 7800GTX.For DX10 u have to buy the DX10 card and do not worry when the game was 1st showb back in 2006 E3 it was running on DX9c GPU so the graphics quality will be great even on DX9C GPU's.

Waise isnt geforce 6 series shader model 3.0.

Geforce 5 = Shader model 2
Geforce 6 & 7 = Shader model 3
Geforce 8 = Shader model 4

This game will need Vista as well as a 8 series card from nvidia eg a 8800, 8600 GT/GTS/GTX etc or a DX10 one from ATI. Im gonna build a quad core 4x4 machine for this game with 4 cpus and 4 GPUs...the upgrade costs for which will be phenominal!!
