Bandai Namco has announced Dragon Ball Fighters, a new 2.5D fighting game for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC developed by Arc System Works and due out worldwide in early 2018.

The game uses a three-versus-three team battle system, allowing players to determine the compatibility between characters and form a team of fighters. It will incorporate the “ultra high speed battles” and “flashy special moves” that the Dragon Ball series is known for.

According to producer Tomoko Hiroki, while Dragon Ball titles of recent years have been 3D, they chose 2.5D this time because there were some things that can only be done in that style. While it looks like 2D animation at first glance, it has a broader range of expression as they can shift camera angles and incorporate a lot of unique production not possible in 2D alone.

[h=1]Dragon Ball FighterZ producer confirms Trunks as a playable character[/h]

[h=2]Closed registration for the beta goes live this month[/h]

Arc System Works’ upcoming fighting game, Dragon Ball FighterZ, just added a fan favoriteDragon Ball Z character to its roster.
Producer Tomoko Hiroki announced the character on stage at Evo 2017, the largest fighting game competition in the world. In the reveal trailer, seen above, Trunks can be seen fighting other popular Dragon Ball Z characters, including Vegeta and Frieza. According to the trailer, Trunks will be available to play as part of the closed beta. Registration for the beta begins on July 26 for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players.
Dragon Ball FighterZ was announced last month during E3 and quickly became one of the most anticipated games from those within the fighting community. Unlike other fighting games based on anime series, such as Naruto and other Dragon Ball properties, Dragon Ball FighterZ will maintain the 2D anime art style. As seen in the gameplay footage from E3, attacks will be incredibly cinematic and take up the entire screen, much like the way the original anime series displayed some of its biggest fighting sequences.
Dragon Ball FighterZ will be released in early 2018 for both Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

[h=1]Dragon Ball FighterZ adds Piccolo and Krillin[/h]

[h=2]Some fresh screenshots of Arc System Works’ anime fighting game[/h]

Dragon Ball FighterZ’s roster expands by two today with the addition of two Dragon Ballmainstays: Piccolo and Krillin.
As arch-rival and close ally to Dragon Ball protagonist Goku, respectively, it’s probably not a surprise that Piccolo and Krillin will be included in Arc System Works’ fighting game. The addition of the two fighters brings Dragon Ball FighterZ’s roster to nine playable characters, joining Goku, Vegeta, Teen Gohan, Freeza, Future Trunks, Cell and Majin Buu.
Here’s Bandai Namco’s official description of the two new fighters:
Piccolo is considered to be one of the most technical characters with his expandable arm to grab his opponents. He has various ways to break the opponent’s guard and he can also fire fast and powerful beams. Players can charge up for a stronger attack by long-pressing the button. To create a huge blow, Piccolo can use his ability to release Ki blast from afar or for an effective strike, players can even connect it with a combo move!
Krillin doesn’t have that much reach and power but easily compensates with several different techniques such as the Kamehameha to fight a long-range game. He can also skillfully confuse his opponents by leaving an image of himself before turning into an attack. Furthermore, players have the choice to use the famous Senzu Bean. Fans will also be delighted to know that his signature and blockable attack is also included in Dragon Ball FighterZ.
Check out some screenshots of Piccolo and Krillin doing their thing in the gallery below.Dragon Ball FighterZ is coming to PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One in early 2018.

Yeah, I'm really surprised no one's talking about it. It looks so great, and the developers of this game are pretty amazing too so there's little chance of it disappointing.

[h=1]Dragon Ball FighterZ resurrects the android saga next February[/h]
[h=2]A trailer to remind you that Android 18 is the best[/h]

Dragon Ball FighterZis launching in February, Bandai Namco Entertainment announced alongside the game’s latest trailer. Fans of the series’ Cell saga — which introduced a band of superpowered androids into the mix — will especially find much to love in the fighting game’s story campaign next winter, as seen in this Gamescom teaser.
The premise of both the teaser and the FighterZ story mode is that the androids have returned to the fight. Android 16, Android 17 and Android 18 (the coolest one of the bunch; please don’t fight us on this) are among the playable characters joining the roster, making their debut appearance in this trailer.
The brawny Android 16 and the chill Android 18 are their own characters, while Android 17 pops up to fight alongside Android 18 during the battle. All three figure heavily into the story, which looks as dramatic as your usual Dragon Ball storyline. Some major evil has befallen the world, something that even our favorite super Saiyan Goku might be no match for. (If this guy dies again at some point, as the trailer hints, we wouldn’t be surprised.)
Arc System Works is developing this 2.5D fighter. It looks to draw heavily from Guilty Gear, which makes sense; Arc System Works is best known for working on that one-on-one fighting franchise. But Dragon Ball fans who have never played one of those games will still appreciate the attention to anime detail; this game looks like the anime in motion moreso than any previous Dragon Ball titles.
Dragon Ball FighterZ will be available on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.

[h=1]Dragon Ball FighterZ gives series’ punching bag Yamcha a fighting chance[/h]

[h=2]Give it up for Yamcha[/h]

Dragon Ball has always been about a bunch of super powerful dudes, with one glaring exception: Yamcha. The wannabe playboy has been a laughingstock among fans since the show’s earliest days, with his frequent losses and deaths the stuff of memes. But upcoming fighting gameDragon Ball FighterZ looks to redeem Yamcha once and for all, based on new gameplay footage.
The trailer above shows Yamcha pulverizing Tien Shinhan, another member of Goku’s crew who’s generally known to be way more powerful than Yamcha could ever dream of being. It’s ... kind of an unbelievable sight, as both the Bandai Namco Twitter account and its followers acknowledged.

Maybe the poor dude will be vindicated when Dragon Ball FighterZ launches next year and everyone finds themselves on the losing side of a fight against Yamcha. At the very least, here’s hoping the game’s story mode spares him from death for once

[h=1]Dragon Ball FighterZ rolls out its first story mode trailer[/h]

[h=2]It’s intense[/h]

We’ve made no secret of it, we’re looking forward to Dragon Ball FighterZ. Arc System Works published a trailer last week detailing the fighting game’s campaign mode and it is pure anime excellence.
The backstory: A legion of super android fighters has arrived, and the warriors they mimic fall unconscious as a result. Goku, the principal fighter controlled by the user, pushes through three story arcs to find the truth behind this incursion and those responsible for it.
It seems that cloning the warriors gives Dragon Ball FighterZ a plausible reason for Goku to fight allies without turning any of them evil (or mind-controlling them, or whatever other plot devices fighting games use to get friends to throw down). A new villain, Android 21, seems to be the one behind it all. The story is wrapped in all of the crackling energy, power vocals and motion blur one would expect of an epic anime.
Dragon Ball FighterZ, a surprise announcement at E3 2017, at last melds a fighting game with Dragon Ball’s signature, super-intense anime style. It’s launching January 26, 2018 on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.
