Does Nayatel suck now?

So I live in Islamabad and switched to Nayatel back in the prehistoric days when cavemen ran PTCL. I made the switch despite packages that were inferior bandwidth wise, but offered fibre optic cabling and reliability.

Fast forward to today, and I'm wondering if Nayatel is the new PTCL. Their advantages (customer service, fibre optic cabling) seem to be matched now by their competitors. But their packages have gotten worse (relatively speaking). If you compare the Rs.3000 packages between Nayatel and Transworld, you'll know what I mean.

Is it time to switch? From what Ive heard, transworld is just as (if not more) reliable than Nayatel. But their packages, their sweet sweet packages! I'm now under the impression that Nayatel might well be the ONLY ISP in Pakistan that has exclusively bandwidth limited packages. Not to mention, their top packages is 12mbps WITH limitations, the same price as transworlds cheapest (30mbps with no limitations).

Are their options in Islamabad other than these two? I think the PTCL transformed packages are the same fibre optic stuff, correct? Except they havent arrived here yet. Any other ISPs? And whats the consensus? Does Nayatel indeed suck now, and should I make the switch? I fail to understand why their bandwidth is so severely limited. Are they greedy as hell? Are they praying on the fact that many people arent aware of the changing landscape?

THank you!

You should definitely switch to Transworld if its available in your area, my experience with it has been sublime.

Regarding PTCL, you should check if you can get GPON in your area, if not go with VDSL, but be warned, if it works fine, it will be great, however if it doesn't, you'll have a very bad time with it lol.

Looking at Nayatels packages they are extremely outdated for todays standards, i mean even PTCL has upgraded their packages lol. Should def get rid of it.

I see. Yes I agree about the packages. Unfortunately transworld isnt available in my area right now. But I'm guessing they have plans to expand and eventually cover all of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, right? If thats the case, I'm just going to wait till they arrive, then make the switch.

Those "Transformed Packages" are now the default packages regardless of area. So, you can get those new packages by ptcl if you want.

Go with Transworld if available in your area otherwise If you want better bandwidth, go with PTCL. Try to get GPON if not available VDSL at the very least and you'll be able to enjoy decent speeds.

A very long story short , yup it suck now and I've been using nayatel for over 3 years now used to be great back in the days because of their customer service but now it's on par with ptcl
And it's not just the packages it's horrible all around garbage services
Give us 150 rupees and u get 10 mb for YouTube and Facebook
Give us 400 and get 30 mb on YouTube facebook and Netflix
No static IP for home customer
You can't open ports as a home users
If u have any server /ping related problem the only solution is to buy the connect package which is a ridiculously priced scam of a package. So on and so forth
If u have the option for ftth option from ptcl go for it you will probably get triple the speed for the same amount of money with much less scumbaggery

Don't think so. They will mostly be confined to societies in Rawalpindi (Bahria, DHA, maybe Askaris) and high-income F-sectors in Islamabad, some societies, and maybe a spattering of G-sectors. I don't think any fiber provider will venture out to cover a whole city in the near future. Maybe if the competition heats up in the societies (which I doubt, since the societies only ever issue permits to, at most, a couple of ISPs), then they will be forced to expand their customer base elsewhere. So, I don't think any fiber ISP will match Nayatel's infrastructure in the twin cities for at least the next 5 years.
