display hanging with hd 6770

while playing games with my hd6770 my display hangs with black screen(sound continues)for ~10-20 seconds, and then get a window of CataclystControl Center saying "VPURecover has reset yourgraphics accelerator as it wasno longer responding tographics driver commands" with an option to send/don'tsend the error.most of the times error is recovered by vpu recover but some times i have to restart my pc.This happens differently with different games.for example while playing batman arkham city i may face this issue 3 or 4 times during 1 hour of gameplay.while playing cod mw2 once in 2,3 hours session of gameplay and with battlefield bad company 2 and ac revelations i dont get this error at all.i have newest drivers.i have reinstalled drivers but it did not solve my issue.Here are my pc specAsus p5gc mx/1333Core 2 duo e84003.5gb ram500 watt cooler master

I had the same problem, so I deinstalled the driver and all software associated with this graphics and then, very important, re boot, then download the update for ATI and install. Then of course, re boot. That worked for me. If that doesn't do it, get another graphics card and take out the old software.

i had heard many issues with 5770 and 6770 gpu, some some one told me that its due to the change of gpu frequency fron 2d state to 3d state and some times causing the drivers to stop working, try to set ur gpu frequency to optimal 3d frequency or try to update the bios to its latest...
