[h=2]Destiny: House of Wolves teaser confirms level cap hike, hints at new gear upgrades[/h]

Destiny's second expansion, House of Wolves, introduces at least one new social area, the Queen's Bay, and developer Bungie released a video teaser for it today ahead of tomorrow's reveal livestream.

The brief clip offers a glance at the Queen's Bay, which is located in the purple-tastic Reef area that the Awoken call home. Guardians will be able to visit the Queen's Bay to hang out with other players and interact with new non-playable characters, including a Fallen creature. Also included in the footage are glimpses of what appear to be new upgrades for existing raid weapons like Fatebringer and raid armor like the Warlock's Cuirass of the Hezen Lords.

In addition, a shot of the character screen confirms that House of Wolves will raise Destiny's Light level cap to at least 34. The game's first expansion, The Dark Below, increased the limit from 30 to 32.

Bungie's community manager, Deej, will host a livestream on the studio's Twitch channel tomorrow along with creative director Christopher Barrett and community member Gothalion. The three of them will provide a walkthrough of the Queen's Bay and discuss elements like the area's new vendors. Bungie's livestream will kick off at 2 p.m. ET.

House of Wolves, which will not include a new raid, will be available May 19. You can watch its prologue below.

[h=2]Destiny: House of Wolves will finally let you exchange materials[/h]

Destiny's upcoming expansion, House of Wolves, will at long last allow Guardians to exchange materials, improving the game's economy in a way that players have asked for since launch.

In a Twitch livestream today, the first one for House of Wolves, developer Bungie provided details on the gear upgrade paths available in the expansion, as well as the Queen's Bay, a new social hub in the Reef. But the presence of the Queen's Bay doesn't mean you'll never have a reason to visit the Tower anymore.

The Speaker, who is located in the Tower North, will offer material exchanges in House of Wolves. Each exchange is a one-for-one deal, so you can hand in a Radiant Shard to get one Radiant Energy, with the Speaker charging a fee of 50 Glimmer for the trade. (This applies for Ascendant materials, too, and works the other way — energy for shards.)

If you've got more shards than you know what to do with, you'll be happy to hear that you'll also be able to trade them for other items. The Speaker will hand you a bundle of 250 Glimmer for one Ascendant or Radiant Shard, and will give you a Mote of Light for two shards.

Eris Morn, the quest giver that debuted in the Tower with The Dark Below, can already exchange radiant materials. However, you must reach rank 4 of her reputation in order to do it, and the deal isn't cheap: Morn charges 500 Glimmer and one Black Wax Idol.

"You can just play the shell game with everything in your inventory," said David "DeeJ" Dague, Bungie's community manager, during the livestream.

For more details, watch the excerpt of the livestream above. House of Wolves launches May 19, and you can check out its prologue below.

The crux (get it?) of last nights crucible-related announcements

  • Crucible marks and rep are doubling across the board
  • Trials passages cost 100 glimmer
  • There are 12 new legendary items that can drop in the Crucible
  • Etheric light is a guaranteed drop at level 3 and level 5 of Iron Banner
  • If you ascend an exotic, you will not lose progress but will have to continue leveling an unfinished item
  • Crucible rewards have doubled in their frequency and the better you play, the more likely the reward
  • Dark Below crucible maps will soon be free to all (WAT!)
  • Trials matchmaking (to clarify, this is between your fireteam and your opponent. You must make your own fireteam) will choose connection over skill
  • There will be an Elimination Mode you can play all the time (Trials minus the bells and whistles)
  • Completing the daily crucible objective will give you a reward package that will contain Passage Coins for items that will help in Trials of Osiris, glimmer, motes of light, and more.

[h=2]Destiny: House of Wolves doubles Crucible rewards, adds exclusive map for PlayStation[/h]

Destiny: House of Wolves, the game's second expansion, will bring three new competitive multiplayer maps to the Crucible — four if you're playing on PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4, Sony announced today.

Timekeeper, seen above, is the PlayStation-exclusive map in House of Wolves. It's set inside a Vex-built structure on Mars. Black Shield takes Destiny to Phobos, one of Mars' moons, for the first time. Thieves' Den is a close-quarters map on Venus. And the other new map is Widow's Court, which brings the battle to another new area: the European Dead Zone on Earth.

Destiny's first expansion, The Dark Below, included a PlayStation-exclusive strike as well as some exclusive gear.

Crucible matches will also be more rewarding than ever. Players will receive twice as many engram drops in House of Wolves as they do now, and double the Crucible marks. Plus, the daily featured gametype (Control, Clash, etc.) will offer guaranteed rewards.

Bungie is offering more details on House of Wolves' additions to the Crucible in a livestream today that focuses on the Trials of Osiris, a new three-on-three elimination mode. We'll bring you all the latest from the stream as the news breaks.

House of Wolves will be released May 19. For more, watch its prologue below.

[h=2]Here's how Destiny: House of Wolves' new Prison of Elders mode works[/h]

Destiny: House of Wolves' endgame content for high-level Guardians, the Prison of Elders, plays out as a three-player cooperative "horde"-style experience, developer Bungie confirmed today.
Unlike the Trials of Osiris, House of Wolves' new competitive multiplayer mode, the Prison of Elders supports matchmaking. However you decide to jump in, the Prison of Elders will throw enemies at you in increasingly difficult waves. Bungie has built this kind of thing before, of course, with Firefight, the beloved mode that debuted in 2009's Halo 3: ODST.

The Prison of Elders offers four distinct setups. The standard Prison of Elders is a level 28 arena that supports matchmaking. "It has randomized elements, it's combat-focused," said House of Wolves lead designer Matt Sammons during Bungie's livestream.
Three different tougher challenges will also be available: one at level 32, one at 34 (the new level cap in House of Wolves) and 35. The first two will rotate through a group of five on a weekly basis, while the level 35 challenge will always be "Skolas's Revenge." Guardians can play the Prison of Elders as often as they like, but they can only get rewards from each challenge once per week, like the raids. Unlike raids, however, the challenges won't save progress — you have to complete them in one attempt.

Sammons, Bungie community manager David "DeeJ" Dague and Twitch streamer Professor Broman jumped into the level 34 challenge, "Urrox's Grudge." Each round contains three waves, and a gameplay modifier will be active during each round. The first one shown in the stream was Trickle, which significantly reduces the rate at which cooldown timers recharge; the next, Small Arms, provides a buff to primary weapons. When a Guardian dies, they can't be revived by a teammate for 30 seconds; when everybody dies, the group has to start from the beginning of the current round.
The first round sent Hive enemies at the group. The second round shifted the action to what Broman called "Cabal hell," and presented the team with an objective. They had to defuse three Splinter Mines, which were essentially three capture points that the Guardians had to hold while fending off enemies. Later during the round, one of the players received a "gift" from Variks, the Prison of Elders baron: the Scorch Cannon, a limited-ammo rocket launcher. The gift changes; the second one was a drop of heavy ammo. Round 3's modifier was Exposure, which gives you a better shield that doesn't recharge.

With a great challenge comes great rewards. The Prison of Elders will offer exotic and legendary gear, and some of those weapons and armor pieces will be available exclusively in this mode. Bungie previously announced that Prison of Elders rewards also include Etheric Light, a new material that Guardians will need in order to upgrade existing legendary equipment.
We'll update this post with more information on the Prison of Elders as Bungie details the mode during its House of Wolves livestream today. In the meantime, you can check out six screenshots from Prison of Elders and a developer diary above. House of Wolves will be released May 19.

Completed the Trials Flawless on my Warlock . Mercury felt rewarding

Gathering a good team together is the key.

@Obelisk
Both of them are a guaranteed drop as far as i know. I got em both. Though i didnt like the shader, try out the Yellowish shader (which drops in Crota Normal) , that looks way better if you are using the chest piece from Trials. I got the Pulse rifle out of big chest .

To be honest , not even a single weapon from HOW is tempting enough. All are sub par average. The only 2 weapons i liked so far are the High Range/Impact Shotguns and Dead Shot Luna (scout rifle)from Dead Orbit (full auto / explosive Rounds /Firefly) , this thing is Suros on steroids.

Holy ahit, Shoaib Bhai. Nice, I need to do flawless too. Yes I'll get dead shot luna later on. Need to get a good proximity launcher first. Thought I might buy the new monarchy one and reroll it in case IB doesn't sell radeghast. Yea tbh I hate playing conservative now. Tried sniping. Much more comfortable with blink shotgun. I'll get my hunter to 34 and try blink shotgun in ToO then

This DLC has been the single greatest thing since Destiny's launch itself. I've completed the Trails, but not flawlessly. I may not get to the Lighthouse very soon. Most people on my list are average players or just very good in PVE stuff. Very few had a good shot in PVP. And I can only carry so much.

Regardless. I'm generally loving almost everything on offer. The best thing here is the quantity as well as quality of general loot. Most armor and weapons look completely new and I've found myself completely confused on which to gather first. I'm sitting here at level 33.5 with TWO Etheric Lights. I can become 34 in a jiffy, but I'm holding off because I've yet to get the perfect combination.

For example, I got the "Watcher" set of Arms twice yesterday. But the 2nd drop had increased reload for Hand Cannons. I instantly dismantled the first arm piece and will now level this. This is the kind of diversity we need. For players like @dagame who literally drink up content in 24 hours, it's no big deal. But for intermittent players who only get time on weekends, this is fantastic.

Lastly I just want to mention how excellently designed the new story missions are. These 5 missions put the rest of the game's missions to shame when it comes to encounter design, enemy placement and variety, and the options at the player's disposal. This is instantly bringing back memories from Halo. Where the terrain, variety of enemies and variety of options for the player in terms of engagement vary so much, that you can come back to the missions and have a slightly different experience each time.

And with the new modifiers, it's a blast. I want to stress how cleverly the existing geometry (where ever it was used) was utilized. It nearly felt like going into a new place just because of the new encounters and minibosses you had to face. All in all, if someone is yet to buy any DLC for Destiny, I'd suggest skipping the first one and jump straight into House of Wolves. There's almost no design decision in this DLC that's bad. Which is almost the opposite for The Dark Below.

Yaar TBH i still think Radaghest Fury and Valedictorian are still superior to this DLC`s RL (though i have read good things about the Too RL). I also was using Blink + Shotgun combo. But at least 1 guy in my team was sniping. For a 1-2 Initial rounds we used to check the pattern the other team was using and went from there.

Being the cheetah you are i am sure you will do it. Though i was a 33 when i did it. There is very less difference in being a 33 vs 34 , just like in IB.

Oh and the Armor thats dropping in TOO looks awesome too

Ywa !an, don't care about PoW anymore, got my warlock to 34 but I want my hunter to 34 so I can do that fast pace blink shotgun plays. All I want is the lighthouse now D:
