[h=1]Deadpool Director’s Cut Is Even More ‘Raw’[/h]

While most recent superhero films have maintained a largely family-friendly tone, often featuring less violent imagery than the current iterations of the comic books they’re based on, Fox’s eagerly awaited X-Men spinoff Deadpool is not one of them. The Ryan Reynolds-starring action-comedy has been touting its R-rated nature as one of its key selling points since it was first announced, a strategy which has thus far led to a mother’s petition for a PG-13 secondary-release and the film being banned in China.
But according to co-star T.J. Miller, the film was even more “raw” in its original version, which will be released to home video later this year.

Speaking to fans at a London special event to promote the film, Miller offered:
“But yeah, so the idea that when you see the fall director’s cut of it, that that’s going to be even more raw, that’s pretty heavy duty.”
Deadpool’s comic appearances have frequently been defined by boundary-pushing violence and crude lowbrow humor, both of which the film has thus far promised to replicate as much as possible. No details have emerged as to what, if anything, would have had to be removed in order to meet the fluctuating standards of a R-rating; though often the difference can be as much as cutting entire scenes to removing a few seconds of footage or lessening the “volume” of actual blood spilled onscreen. In the U.S., film ratings are established by the Motion Picture Association of America, which evaluates films on a case-by-case basis for content before issuing their decisions. While the MPAA is not a government-backed institution and has no federal power to “ban” films or enforce specific instances of censorship, most U.S. theater chains have standing policies against carrying films that have not been certified with an MPAA rating.

While studios have largely avoided making R-rated superhero movies, they have been fairly popular in the past via franchises like Blade and The Crow in the 90s. While Deadpool is likely to mine success from this approach with its combination of a unique premise and a popular lead character (plus a lower than average budget, making profits more tangible), there’s no telling whether or not the film could start a “trend” of more violent or sexually-explicit entries in the genre. The new global focus of Hollywood blockbusters means that films must increasingly rely on ticket sales in international territories, including countries with significantly stricter laws about movie content up to and including outright censorship; and while a film like Deadpool can likely afford to be banned from the lucrative Chinese market, the same cannot be said for expensive ventures like The Avengers or the mainstream X-Men films — especially when even Star Wars is feeling pressure to compete in such territories.
There’s also the question of how to handle ratings differences in the era of shared universe films: While Fox has been upfront about this Deadpool not being related to the version from the (now deleted) continuity of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, well-known X-Men hero Colossus appears in the film in a supporting role. Also on hand is a new female heroine named Negasonic Teenage Warhead, who has been seen in promotional images wearing the yellow and blue uniform of the New Mutants — who are currently being considered for a spinoff series of their own. It remains to be seen whether audiences will embrace a shared-universe where certain installments can be viewed only by adults (or, potentially, multiple children standing on each other’s shoulders in a conspicuously long overcoat.)
We’ll find out when Deadpool shoots and slices into theaters February 12, 2016.
Deadpool opens in theaters on February 12, 2016, followed by X-Men: Apocalypse on May 27, 2016; Gambit sometime in 2017; Wolverine 3 on March 3, 2017; and an untitled X-Men film on July 13, 2018. The New Mutants is also currently in development.

Deadpool may not release in Pakistan

So I called Cinepax to book tickets of Deadpool and they told me that it will probably not release here because of censorship board. Anyone else has any information about it?

Oh it will release for sure albeit a super trimmed version. If you go to The Place Mall, where Nueplex is located, you'll see they have done way too much with the place to promote Deadpool. I was also surprised to see that. It surely can't be for nothing.

[h=1]Deadpool Star Ryan Reynolds Shows Off Trailer Voice; Confirms 15 Rating in UK[/h]

After several false starts, and a disappointing appearance in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, all signs are pointing to Fox’s Deadpool being the proper starring vehicle for the politically incorrect hero that both fans and actor Ryan Reynolds have been wanting to happen since the mid-2000s. Of course, one of Deadpool’s most notable aspects is its hard R-rating, an almost unheard of classification for a superhero film in the current box-office climate of PG-13 Marvel Cinematic Universe dominance.
During a recent appearance on BBC One’s The Graham Norton Show, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds began things by amusing the crowd with his imitation of the “in a world”-style movie trailer voiceover, even managing to include fellow guest Suicide Squad’s Will Smith in the hilarity. A clip of that bit can be seen above, but Reynolds did manage to drop another interesting bit of Deadpool news amid the laid back fun that Norton’s show is known for.

Elsewhere during the show, Reynolds confirmed to Norton that Deadpool has received a 15 certificate by the UK’s BBFC ratings body. This might seem like an odd decision on the surface, considering that Deadpool’s graphic violence and sexual content made it a lock to earn a R-rating from the MPAA, thus deeming it inappropriate for persons under 17. There are several factors to consider though, one being that the MPAA has notoriously conservative standards for what it deems worthy of certain ratings levels, and another being that the UK has a generally more permissive attitude toward so-called “adult content” in movies and television than does the USA.

Another factor worth noting is the context of the violence and sexual references. Deadpool is clearly an over-the-top comedy, and not meant to be taken too seriously. The BBFC has a history of taking it easier on films that present arguably offensive levels of violence and sex if the tone of the film clearly establishes that the audience is meant to chuckle as much as cringe. For example, similarly hard-hitting comic book film Kick-Ass — and its sequel Kick-Ass 2 — passed BBFC classification with a 15 rating. So in that respect, Deadpool getting a 15 makes sense. The BBFC has also confirmed that Deadpool passed through its process uncut, so UK fans needn’t worry that Fox removed any choice moments in order to get a more inclusive rating, a fate that has befallen more than one film in the past.
In less than two short weeks, the world at large will finally get to experience Deadpool’s debut feature film. Will the Merc With a Mouth kick ass and take names at the box office, signaling a renaissance of R-rated superhero films? He might, but even if he doesn’t, at least Deadpool is finally getting his due.
Deadpool hits theaters on February 12th, 2016.

I REALLY REALLY hope it is not censored, otherwise I will have to wait for a good print. :(

Can't watch the censored version as it will butcher a movie like this.

well what i heard is that sometimes cinemas themselves censor movies manually themselves, as i saw revenant at imax they were having some issues for the very first show and after about 40 minutes we were given the green light that it was finally time to watch it, 40 minutes late than the actual time, it wasn't censored had one or two naked scenes and it was the first show, dunno if they censored it afterwards or perhaps they were trying to censor it at first but couldn't cannot say

[h=1]Deadpool’s Early Reviews Are Universally Positive[/h]

When it comes to bringing beloved Marvel comics anti-hero Deadpool to the big screen, a lot can go wrong. Hopes are high that his upcoming solo debut will finally do justice to the Merc with a Mouth, and the marketing blitz for the movie shows that Fox, the studio behind it, has some pretty high hopes for it as well.
There has been a seemingly endless parade of TV spots for Deadpool, including the new one above, as well as some an assortment of trailers and marketing stunts. All that exposure has certainly made fans aware that the movie exists, but the big question remains: is it any good?

Spoiler: show
Early fan reaction to the film was overwhelmingly positive, which is certainly a good sign, but now the professionals are weighing in as well. The verdict? They like it, too. Read some of the highlights below, and click on the links to see the full reviews.
THR Todd McCarthy
It takes a little while to get in gear — or perhaps just to adjust to what’s going on here — but once it does, Deadpool drops trou to reveal itself as a really raunchy, very dirty and pretty funny goof on the entire superhero ethos, as well as the first Marvel film to irreverently trash the brand.
Variety – Justin Chang
If it all sounds terribly arch and juvenile, it is. It’s also startlingly effective: Somehow, through sheer timing, gusto and verve (and an assist from Julian Clarke’s deft editing), Reynolds gives all this self-referential potty talk a delirious comic momentum.

The Guardian – Peter Bradshaw
It’s the funniest Ryan Reynolds film since Van Wilder: Party LiaisonDeadpool is dripping in irony, zinging and stinging with pop-culture gags.
Score: 4/5
The Wrap – Alonso Duralde
Deadpool is one of those movies that’s all the more successful for how easily it could have gone so very wrong. It’s suffused with an arch, self-aware wit – its titular hero violates the fourth wall more than Groucho Marx, Bugs Bunny and Ambush Bug put together – yet it takes its romance and revenge storylines just seriously enough to keep us engaged.
We Got This CoveredMatt Donato
Deadpool is funky, fresh, and ferocious, which is the shot in the ass that superhero movies need right now. Self-aware doesn’t even begin to describe the levels of saccharine satire that skewers today’s barrage of spandex-wearing good guys, and it’s all done while achieving more entertaining levels of comic book fun than most of the film’s competitors.
Score: 4.5/5

HitFix Drew McWeeny
Right up until the moment the film began, I was afraid It was going to be so juvenile and filthy that I would end up annoyed by it. Instead, from the very beginning of the opening credits, it is clear that director Tim Miller and screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have crafted something deeply silly that isn’t remotely interested in playing by the conventional rules of what we’ve come to think of as “the superhero genre.”
Score: B+
From the Balcony – Bill Clark
As a much needed correction for a genre in desperate need of a jolt, Deadpool succeeds. It makes good on its promise of being off-kilter, off-color, and, well, out there. Miller and his team make this insane concoction work, right down to the roast of the stereotypical superhero jump from a great height. High art it is not, but there’s a method to the madness that commands respect.
Score: B+
Film School Rejects – Rob Hunter
Deadpool is a smart-ass take-down of superhero films while still being its own superhero film, and while the action is solid the film is unapologetic in its deference to laughs. Everything and everyone is fair game, and no target is too lowbrow. He may not be your father’s superhero, but he’s also not your son’s or daughter’s. He’s yours. And he’s ready to be loved. (Although he’ll probably settle for a reach-around.)
Score: B+
A film as admittedly raunchy and over-the-top as Deadpool is not always going to be a critical darling, but in this case it seems like critics are liking what they see. What could have been a dumb, lowbrow comedy is winning reviewers over with just enough smarts and self-awareness to appeal to their brains just as the movie is also making an appeal to their funny bones. In short, it would appear that the filmmakers have successfully translated what makes the Deadpool comics so great into a movie that does those comics justice.
Will the tidal wave of positivity continue as more reviews pour in? That remains to be seen, but early signs point to yes. Screen Rant will be releasing our review of the movie when it hits theaters on February 12th – not to mention discussing the movie in the very first episode of our brand new podcast – so check back then for our take.
Deadpool opens in theaters on February 12, 2016, followed by X-Men: Apocalypse on May 27, 2016;Gambit sometime in 2017; Wolverine 3 on March 3, 2017; and some as-yet unspecified X–Men film on July 13, 2018. The New Mutants is also in development.
