[h=1]Deadpool 2: Blind Al Confirmed to Return[/h]

Casting news on Deadpool 2 continues to roll in, with confirmation of another key player from the first movie: Blind Al. The biggest Deadpool 2 casting update so far is, of course, Josh Brolin being tapped to play Cable, Deadpool’s mutant sidekick; a role that Brolin is already preparing for. The other big casting update concerns Zazie Beetz playing Domino, a mutant mercenary, opposite Brolin as Cable and Ryan Reynolds’ The Merc with a Mouth.
In addition to the actors who are hopping onboard the Deadpool train for the sequel, we have learned that Brianna Hildebrand is coming back to play Negasonic Teenage Warhead again. Morena Baccarin as Vanessa is also returning for the Deadpool sequel, and there is speculation that her character could take on the superhero guise of Copycat in the movie. As mentioned, however, they’re not the only returning players from the first Deadpool movie.
As confirmed by Black Film, Leslie Uggams is coming back to Deadpool 2 to reprise her role as Blind Al; Wade Wilson’s cocaine-sniffing, IKEA-assembling roommate. Black Film caught up to Uggams at the afterparty for HBO’s film The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks and she confirmed her return in the role. Uggams costars in The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks alongside Oprah Winfrey.

In the comic books, the relationship between Blind Al and Deadpool is incredibly complicated. Once upon a time, a pre-Deadpool Wade Wilson was supposed to kill Al but decided to let her live, and years later he captured her and turned her into his combination prisoner and housekeeper. In the film, Blind Al and Deadpool meet through a Craigslist ad, but their relationship does have some bizarre aspects reminiscent of the comics.
With the cast for Deadpool 2 swelling, it’s hard to see how they will have much time to expand on Blind Al or work in much of her backstory, so we should probably expect her character to remain in the background providing comic relief and possibly some amusing byplay with Deadpool’s pal Weasel (played again by T.J. Miller).
Deadpool 2 is being directed by David Leitch (John Wick) from a script co-written by Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The first R-rated Deadpool movie was a massive hit for 20th Century Fox, taking in $730 million worldwide on a reported budget of $58 million. A Deadpool 2 teaser has already been shown, ahead of the Hugh Jackman Wolverine swansong Logan.

Deadpool 2 Reportedly Casting Three X-Force Characters

Fox is betting big with Deadpool’s future and are reportedly planning to introduce three more X-Force members in Deadpool 2. Fans have known since last year that, eventually, Fox would be bringing the X-Force team into their movie universe and have given the Deadpool franchise the responsibility of making that happen. Since then, it has come out that Cable and Domino will have prominent roles setting up their futures in X-Force, and have already cast Josh Brolin and Zazie Beetz, respectively.
This decision has elevated what was a relatively intimate film in Deadpool to now being more along the lines of an ensemble piece. As if introducing these two mutants, bringing back others, and adding other new mystery characters wasn’t a tall enough task, it has now been revealed that three future X-Force members will debut in Deadpool 2 as well.
ComicBook is reporting that Fox is planning on using the ending of Deadpool 2 to heavily set up X-Force and will do so in the form of a post-credits scene. According to their sources, this post-credits scene will introduce Sunspot, Feral, and Shatterstar into the universe. The plan is for each to then star alongside Deadpool, Cable, and Domino in X-Force, but this idea will require them to cast the future stars in the coming months.

In the comics, each of the three characters have served as members of the X-Force over the years. Each can be seen above with Shatterstar having the long orange ponytail, Sunspot sporting the red visor, and Feral appearing right below. For those that are fans of the X-Men films, they may remember Sunspot appearing in previous movies, which will surely be retconned with this latest incarnation. His real name is Roberto DeCosta, and as his superhero name implies, he can absorb solar energy to fly and more.
Shatterstar’s real name is Gaveedra Seven and is the son of other X-Men heroes Dazzler and Longshot. He has a variety of superhuman abilities, but is unique thanks to his hollow bones that allow him to be lighter. Feral’s real name is Maria Callasantos and as her look would imply, has many characters of feline creatures. Claws, fangs, agility, speed, and healing are at her disposal.
With each of these characters set to play such a minor role in Deadpool 2, it could be awhile before casting is announced and with Fox’s out of the box thinking, there is no telling who could end up in these roles. Fox could go old or young for any or all of these roles, but casting aside, this continues to show that Fox has some semblance of a larger plan and moves like these reinforce it. Now that they have multiple future films announced and plans for many more, it will undoubtedly be interesting to see how these plans fall into place.

[h=1]Stuntwoman Dies On the Set of Deadpool 2[/h]

The Deadpool 2 set has been hit by tragedy after a stuntwoman died performing a stunt. The unidentified stunt driver was said to have been performing a motorcycle stunt sequence when the fatal accident occurred. The Deadpool sequel is currently being shot in Vancouver, Canada, and the news of the stunt woman’s death was confirmed by the city’s police via Twitter and their website.
Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin and Zazie Beetz have been filming Fox’s superhero sequel in Vancouver since late June. The film will see Ryan reprise his Golden Globe-nominated role as Deadpool/Wade Wilson, with Brolin and Beetz joining the cast as Cable and Domino, respectively. T.J. Miller and Morenna Baccarin will also return as Weasel and Vanessa.
[h=4]Related: Deadpool & Cable Relationship Inspired By Comics[/h]Onlookers told Vancouver affiliate CTV News that the stunt driver was for Beetz and that the motorcycle stunt had been taking place at Jack Poole Plaza. On August 3rd, photos from the set, published online, showed a female stunt driver was seen in the area, wearing a Domino costume while riding a black Ducati, though it has not been confirmed if this woman is the same stuntwoman who died. The Vancouver Police have issued the following statement, regarding the tragic event:
“Vancouver Police can confirm that a female stunt driver has died on the set of Deadpool during a stunt on a motorcycle. VPD officers are at the scene, along with officers from WorkSafeBC. More information will be released when it is available.

A spokesperson for 20th Century Fox issued the following statement to Variety, regarding the death on the Deadpool 2 set:
“We are deeply saddened by the accident that occurred on the set of ‘Deadpool 2’ this morning. Our hearts and prayers are with the family, friends and colleagues of our crew member during this difficult time.”

Just this week, Tom Cruise was involved in an on-set accident while shooting the sixth Mission Impossible movie. Back in July, the death of a stunt-performer on The Walking Dead set also shocked the movie/TV industry.
Reynolds has not publicly acknowledge the stuntwoman’s death though last week, he did praise the people of Vancouver on Twitter “for putting up with road closures and traffic delays” while they filmed Deadpool 2. Director David Leitch has also remained silent on social media following the on-set death, which could very well mean the production shuts down until the investigation is completed.
No doubt, the Deadpool 2 cast and crew members will be fully supportive of this measure, so that the cause of the accident can be properly determined and that future stunts do not end in tragedy. Leith, who is coming off having directed Atomic Blonde, is a former SAG award-winning stuntman, so he will no doubt be more than upset that one of his crew members has now died performing a stunt.

[h=1]Deadpool 2 Shuts Down Production After Stuntwoman Death[/h]
Production on Deadpool 2, which was currently in the midst of principal photography, has been shut down following the death of a stuntwoman on set. Yesterday, fans learned of the tragedy, which was confirmed by Vancouver Police. The unidentified stunt driver was filming an action sequence on a motorcycle at the time of the fatal accident. 20th Century Fox and star Ryan Reynolds issued statements shortly after the news broke, expressing condolences for the stuntwoman’s family and loved ones. An investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.
Earlier this summer, a stuntman on The Walking Dead passed away after an onset accident, which led to production being shut down temporarily. It was presumed filming on Deadpool 2 would come to a halt for the time being, and now that has been confirmed. With authorities looking into what happened, the cameras are no longer rolling.

In a report from Deadline, it’s mentioned production was “shut down immediately” and there is “no indication yet when work on the sequel will resume.” Some may recall The Walking Dead started shooting again a few days after its incident, but every situation is different and the same might not be the case for Deadpool 2. Fox has the highly-anticipated followup scheduled for release in June 2018.

Additional information about the Deadpool 2 tragedy is included in the Deadline article. The stunt in question was the “first film stunt” the driver (who was playing Domino) performed, and she was said to not be wearing a helmet when she lost control of her motorcycle. The investigation is being handled by Vancouver Police, the British Columbia Coroner’s Service, and WorkSafeBC. More details should be released at a later time when the inspection is complete. The duration of the investigation is unknown.
While some viewers may be wondering how the production stoppage will impact Deadpool 2‘s journey to theaters, it is far more important for this situation to be handled to the full extent before filming resumes. Many tentpole action sequences have an element of danger to them (which makes them thrilling to watch on the big screen), but during filming of said stunts, the work should be as safe as possible. If the filmmakers need to make any changes to what they are doing, it’s for the best they wait until they receive the results before the movie resumes principal photography. That way, the crew will hopefully be able to avoid another tragedy from happening later on.

[h=1]Deadpool 2 Resumes Production After Stuntwoman Death[/h]

Principal photography on Deadpool 2 has resumed two days after the tragic death of a stuntwoman on set. The driver, who has since been identified as Joi “SJ” Harris, lost control of her motorcycle and crashed while filming a scene on Monday, August 14. Following the accident, 20th Century Fox immediately shut down production while the authorities conducted their investigation. At the time, it was unknown how long the sequel would be on hiatus.
Viewers may recall that AMC’s The Walking Dead went through something similar earlier this year when a stuntman passed away from injuries suffered in an accident. In that case, filming on the hit series started back up a few days later. It appears Deadpool 2 likewise won’t encounter any lengthy delays, and the cameras have started up again.
According to Deadline, the followup to the 2016 blockbuster picks back up in Vancouver on Wednesday, August 16, with filming running through August 17. This means the movie should remain on course for its previously scheduled June 2018 release date. Deadpool 2 is one of three X-Men universe films Fox has planned to premiere next year, along with New Mutants and X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

The examination of the situation has brought to light new details about the accident. Per Deadline‘s report, Harris was brought in as a last minute replacement when it was determined the production was in need of a new stunt driver. She joined the crew only a week ago. Harris was playing Domino and had filmed “several takes successfully” of her scene before the accident. As was previously mentioned, Harris was not wearing a helmet at the time of her death. Deadline notes the stunt driver Harris replaced did have a helmet to go under the Domino wig, but since Harris was such a late addition, she didn’t have time to get one made for her. This information is troubling, as safety should always be the top priority when filming potentially dangerous sequences.
From the sound of things, the investigation is still ongoing, meaning more details about what happened could come out in the near future. This is a difficult situation for all involved, and the best they can do right now is push forward and work on completing the film. Hopefully, the crew takes all of the necessary precautions so none of the forthcoming stunts left to be filmed end in tragedy.

[h=1]Deadpool 2 Posters Get in the Thanksgiving Spirit[/h]

The first posters for 20th Century Fox’s Deadpool 2 arrive, getting fans in the holiday spirit. The first Deadpool movie arrived around Valentine’s Day 2016, bringing the Merc with a Mouth’s unique brand of comedy and violence to theaters around the world. Though Tim Miller’s Deadpool – starring Ryan Reynolds as the titular anti-hero – was stuck in development hell for a number of years, the X-Men spinoff ended up breaking box office records for R-rated movies and became one of Fox’s top grossing X-Men films. Plus, Deadpool was a hit with critics and fans alike, indicating it was just a matter of time before the studio gave the green light to a sequel.
That sequel, Deadpool 2, is set to arrive Summer 2018 and introduce two major characters: Cable (Josh Brolin) and Domino (Zazie Beetz). Reynolds, who serves as a producer on the film in addition to starring in it, revealed first looks at both Cable and Domino while the project was filming this year. Now, though it may be some time before a trailer is unveiled, the first posters for Deadpool 2 have arrived.
Collider unveiled the first poster, a Thanksgiving themed one-sheet featuring Deadpool, Cable, Domino, and fellow cast members Blind Al (Leslie Uggams), Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), Dopinder (Karan Soni), Weasel (T.J. Miller), and Colossus (Stefan Kapičić). The poster also features a photo of Marvel Comics’ Stan Lee. The second poster was revealed by Reynolds on Twitter and features Deadpool on the cover of Good Housekeeping. Take a look at the posters below:

[h=1]Deadpool Sequel May Not Be Titled ‘Deadpool 2’[/h]

Twentieth Century Fox’s Deadpool sequel, which is currently being called the Untitled Deadpool Sequel, may not be titled Deadpool 2. The studio’s X-Men franchise has been running for nearly two decades, since being kicked off with Bryan Singer’s X-Men in 2000. The franchise received a quasi-reboot in X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past, and has been continuing to expand with more spinoffs from the main series planned. The past two years have seen Deadpool and Logan find massive success with critics and fans – as well as at the box office – with many enjoying the Merc with a Mouth’s solo adventure and James Mangold’s Wolverine trilogy capper.
Next, Fox has three X-Men films planned for 2018: the horror-inspired New Mutants spinoff, the Deadpool sequel, and the continuation of their main series with X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Perhaps the most anticipated of the three is Deadpool 2, since it’s the followup to the massively successful Deadpool film. Fox, and the film’s star/executive producer Ryan Reynolds, released the first teaser trailer for Deadpool 2 today, but it seems that isn’t the actual title of the highly anticipated sequel.

In the press release Fox sent out containing the trailer and official Deadpool 2 synopsis, the studio refers to the film as the Untitled Deadpool Sequel, indicating it won’t officially be titled simply Deadpool 2. When Screen Rant asked Fox to clarify the title of the film, the studio responded: “This film is not yet titled so we are temporarily referring to it as Untitled Deadpool Sequel.”

Another Deadpool Movie Logo by Joe Steiner

Of course, many have been using Deadpool 2 as a placeholder for the upcoming sequel since an official title hadn’t been announced. Though the first teaser has already been released – along with a poster and magazine cover that curiously don’t feature any title – it seems Fox and those behind the film are still working on the official title. However, it’s also possible that Reynolds, director David Leitch, and writers Paul Wernick, Rhett Reese, and Drew Goddard do have a title planned for the sequel, but they simply aren’t ready to release it yet.
The marketing campaign for Deadpool was especially strong, and no doubt helped bolster the box office for the X-Men spinoff film by piquing the interest of casual moviegoers who may not have known of the Wade Wilson comic book character but laughed at one of the film’s many fun trailers and TV spots. So, considering the well executed marketing campaign for Deadpool, it’s likely the sequel will have a similarly thought out promotional push – one that no doubt includes the official reveal of the film’s title. We’ll just have to wait and see what Fox and those behind the Deadpool sequel have cooked up for the movie’s title – though it wouldn’t be entirely surprising if the project ended up being officially titled Untitled Deadpool Sequel since that certainly falls in line with the Merc with a Mouth’s sense of humor.

[h=1]Disney CEO Wants To Keep Making Deadpool Sequels[/h]

Disney CEO Bob Iger wants to keep making Deadpool sequels, now that the company owns Fox. The big deal everyone was bracing for finally happened this morning. Disney officially announced they acquired Fox for a hefty price, and in doing so, Marvel Studios is getting access to the X-Men, plus the Fantastic Four. Fans have been looking forward to such a deal for years, but no one anticipated this would be the way it would go down.
One of the biggest questions fans plaguing the minds of fans was what the future will hold for Fox’s R-rated X-Men properties, specifically Deadpool. The growing concern of Disney – a very family friendly studio – owning these properties led many to wonder if Ryan Reynolds’ days as the Merc With a Mouth are numbered. Thankfully, that doesn’t appear to be the case.

Speaking to the press about the Disney/Fox deal (including WSJ‘s Ben Fritz), Iger was receptive to the possibility of more Deadpool sequels, saying “There may be an opportunity for an R-rated Marvel brand as long as we let audiences know what’s coming.” Not only does it sound like Iger is open to Disney broadening their library and the MPAA ratings of certain titles, but he specifically mentions Deadpool as being a franchise they they intend to continue in that direction.

This statement from Iger, while not an official statement of their plans, certainly is a step in the right direction. Fox has enjoyed great success of late thanks to their venture into R-rated superhero movies, so it’s easy to see why Disney would be hesitant to shut that down. Iger specifically mentioning a future for Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with a Mouth is good news for the long-term plans that Deadpool 2 may set in motion. Plus, it should ease any concerns Reynolds may have personally about the deal.
The question will soon become whether another Deadpool movie will immediately be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Any sequel or future appearance from Deadpool after his sequel won’t come until the MCU is in Phase 4, and by that time this deal should be officially finalized and approved. Marvel Studios has yet to show any interest in making R-rated movies, so future Deadpool movies from Disney may wind up falling under a separate banner altogether.
That said, all future Deadpool films will be released by Disney, so even though they could still be R-rated, they may not push the envelope quite as much. Deadpool is an incredibly violent and raunchy character, and if he is going to interact with the likes of Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Doctor Strange down the road, then he may be watered down before then in order to make a PG-13 appearance less jarring. However, that might be a difficult thing to do, so hopefully any and all future Deadpool sequels from Disney will maintain the same R-Rated feel.

[h=1]Colossus Actor Confirms Shatterstar For Deadpool 2[/h]

Stefan Kapičić has confirmed that Shatterstar will appear in Deadpool 2, which is currently being promoted as the Untitled Deadpool Sequel.
The first official Deadpool 2 trailertook fans by surprise when it debuted last week after the Super Bowl. While there was a lot to digest from the trailer, one particularly intriguing scene saw Deadpool and some mysterious allies about to disembark from a helicopter. Eagle-eyed fans swiftly spotted Terry Crews, and it’s commonly believed he’s playing the part of G.W. Bridge, but as the scene was examined even more closely, fans began to speculate that Iron Fist‘s Lewis Tan could be playing Shatterstar.
Related: Deadpool 2 Is Properly Setting Up X-Force
In an interview with Inverse, Stefan Kapičić, who plays Colossus in the Deadpool movies, confirmed that Shatterstar does, in fact, appear in the trailer. “That’s not CGI of Terry Crews, that is Terry Crews. You can see it clearly. You can see behind him, Shatterstar, a really cool thing for people to geek out.

In the comics, Shatterstar is a skilled warrior who’s traditionally been allied with Cable. He actually originates from another dimension and was trained in martial arts that are otherwise unknown on Earth. Shatterstar’s weapon of choice is a strange, double-bladed sword. And he can charge energy down that blade, using it to create powerful shockwaves.
In May of last year, there were rumors that Deadpool 2 would feature a number of new characters, including Shatterstar. At the time, Deadpool 2 co-writer Rhett Reese denied the report, but the trailer clearly seemed to show Shatterstar’s distinctive costume. Certainly, the character has always been well-known for the strange design of his helmet, and that seemed distinctly visible.
While it’s surprising to hear Kapičić confirming a fan-theory, it’s important to note that he doesn’t give too much away. Fans have speculated that Tan may be playing the part, but Kapičić doesn’t confirm that. What’s more, he avoids revealing whether or not the assembled team is actually X-Force or the Six Pack. In the comics, the Six Pack were a team of mercenaries assembled by Cable. The military style of the trailer seems to suggest this is, indeed, the Six Pack. After all, five characters are visible. Add Cable to that count and the Six Pack is complete.
Shatterstar, however, has never been a member of the Six Pack. Shatterstar only teamed up with Cable as a member of X-Force. That raises two intriguing possibilities; either Fox has subtly redesigned the Six Pack for Deadpool 2, or this is actually the first big screen version of X-Force. Fox has never been particularly worried about adapting the comics to suit their needs. The first Deadpool film, for example, radically transformed the character of Negasonic Teenage Warhead. That means either option is possible. Still, one thing’s for certain: Kapičić has now confirmed that Shatterstar is appearing in Deadpool 2.
