Hi everyone. I will try to keep the story as short and to the point as possible. My cousin sent me Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge from Singapore via Singapore Post Airmail. The package arrived at Peshawar General Post Office after 20 days. I went today to Peshawar GPO to inquire about the package and they told me that the cell phone has arrived and they gave me a op-ed notice that I have to get the NOC from PTA to get my phone delivered to me. That is no problem for me I already knew about it. There were 3-4 men there in the Foreign Mail Office at Peshawar GPO. I asked one of the guy that was buy in paper work I assumed he was a clerk, that "How much custom duty I will have to pay after I get the NOC from PTA". He told me 3700-3800 rupees. Which was contradictory to what I read online on different websites. The FBR has imposed a custom duty of 1000/- on every smartphone no matter what the price. Reference letter can be seen at the link that I have shared below. I told the guy that the amount you are asking me for is too high. He replied that the actual duty is 6700/- rupees and he is doing me a favor

(My friend actually paid 2500/- duty for a phone at the same office). After that he said just come tomorrow and you will get your phone even without the NOC from PTA. I then asked him why not give it to me today then. He said custom inspector has left now. I didn't asked more questions then and I also left the office.
I dont want to pay extra money to those culprits. I also made a call to the Federal Board of Revenue Complaint 051-111-772-772 at 3:00pm but unluckily due to Ramadan the timings of complaint line is 8:00am to 2:00pm. I will call them tomorrow lets see if that helps. I have sent an Email to Federal Board of Revenue using the complaint tab at their website about this and I got a message on my phone number that I provided that my query will be answered within 48 hours. Lets see what will be their reply.
But with all this a few points must be keep in the mind. That If I want to approach the higher authorities it will be a prolong perseverance and according to op-ed notice that the clerk gave me states that If I didn't collect the cellphone within 1 month of receiving this notice my cell phone will be confiscated.
