Considering forming a Boxing/MMA training group in Karachi.

Okay so I'm just in the learning process myself. I train at an Academy but most of the time of the class, we work on conditioning and cardio(which is essential but not much sparring is involved) . A few other issues have made me consider putting together a group of people who could train together while continuing training at my Gym.

I'm talking about practising the actual techniques of boxing/kickboxing (grappling too if mats could be arranged).

So far I've learned the basics at the gym I train and picked up some stuff from the internet too. But I need guys to practise that stuff with.

So I need to know if there any people around here that might be interested. People with a bit of experience or decent amount of interest in these sports will do. Also, if anyone already possesses a space where they train with a HeavyBag, that would be awesome.

I'm not talking about wise guys who'd wanna show up to beat me up so they could show how tough they are. I'm talking about people who are interested in properly training in these sports.

There won't be much equipment needed in the start. Just a pair of gloves, handwraps and a mouthguard will suffice. If the group continues and keeps growing, we can get ourselves other things like mitts too. The training space can be a public park.

huhhh..well this is a tough one..which art do you study exactly and what is your purpose of learning?if you want to practice for sports and street fighting,then mma is good..but if your purpose is longevity and understanding your limits..then i suggest you practice shaolin kung fu along with qi gong..martial arts is a great art but people think that cardio,push ups and running can strenghthen their bodies..it is true up to some extent but the main question is "what makes you keep going?"it is the strength of internal energy and internal organs that keeps you up and running..the summary of my statement is that if you really want to make yourself strong,you should practice both external and internal exercises..
i would have loved to practice and spar with you but i don't live in karachi..anyways good luck,follow your passion and practice without neglect..cheers.

^ Shaolin Kung fu and all that stuff involving Dragons/chi/internal energy and all that isn't something I'm interested in.

MMA/Boxing/kickboxing involve a lot of exercises, not just pushups, cardio and such.

What are these "internal exercises" that you speak of? :hah:

I think there are clubs already in Karachi for MMA, just sometime back a big event happened in Lahore I think where we were able to defeat an afghan and also there were other matches between MMA clubs from different cities of Pakistan. Karachi has 1 or 2 dedicated MMA clubs.

I know all about that, NanoW. And that's the gym I go to. But the thread was created to see if I could find guys who'd be interested for separate sparring sessions. Reason: I want to practice stuff that I've learned at a slower pace & also want to teach people what I know thus far in order to polish those skills.
