Change of field? has anyone done this?

Guys im applying to LUMS , seeing how there engineering department is not as good as NUST's i was planning to apply there for management instead.Has anyone changed fields like that? throughout O and A levels all i ahve studied is sciences and maths no economics no buissness nothing. HELP

Many people do this.
some shift after O levels some after Alevels and some shift DURING their 4 year bachelor degree.

@OP First off lets clear some myths here, the engineering department of LUMS is at par with NUST's engineering Deprt in terms of employment prospects and Academic standard if not better.
Now coming back to your question... Yes! it is completely normal to change field when applying to universities. At first it may be difficult for you to cope up with basic concepts of your respective subjects but eventually you would settle in. Also, most of the foundation stuff of all subjects is repeated in universities (albeit at faster pace) so it won't be much of a problem.
But my question remains why are you applying for management sciences, is it because you are more interested in people management than engineering itself or is it because you want to apply to LUMS (but had the preconception of an inferior engineering deprt)?

well i wanted to go into mechanical engineering and seeing how lums only focuses on electrical it really put me off :/ also seeing how its engineering department is not HEC recognized while NUST is , is another point.

Its normal.

I studied Pre engineering in O and A levels, then shifted towards commerce and finance

Once you get into management studies you will learn all about economics/stuff you are worried about, don't worry if you haven't studied that in A or O levels.
Lastly it's not that much of a field change and it's fairly common. So chill and get into the program that you want to do.

well i am applying to LUMS aswell but you know living in a different city sounds way more appealing.

Haha. My choice of uni's places NUST above LUMS for me, but I've snubbed NUST given the fact that it's in Islamabad.

Islamabad is a great place but ive spent my entire childhood here part of my typical uni dream is living independently in a different city.
