AOA Members, both new and veterans,

This is for information, with the aim of enhancing and upholding the standards of the PG benchmark.

Recently, I found myself in a situation where I had to cancel a deal involving the purchase of a GPU. The seller explicitly stated that the GPU was in "Brand New" condition, and I sent an advance payment for the item.

Without divulging the user's identity or contact information, I would like to highlight that this individual was a new member with no trader score. It is worth noting that they identified themselves as a shopkeeper. It's important to acknowledge that we have observed a surge in new shopkeepers posting advertisements in the PG PC marketplace. While it is entirely acceptable for everyone to seek fair opportunities and earn their livelihood, there is a need for oversight, especially concerning what new members might present, primarily due to their unfamiliarity with the platform's rules.

In this particular case, the seller was located in Lahore, whereas I reside in Karachi. I had requested the seller to reserve the GPU for three days in exchange for an advance payment. Upon inspection by my friend at the seller's shop, it was discovered that the GPU had been unsealed (allegedly for thermal repasting) and had been used, contrary to the "brand new" condition that had been advertised. It is possible that the seller did not fully comprehend the meaning of "Brand New condition."

*Now, I am not saying thermal repasting is bad, I am just saying that I avoid GPUs that are unsealed (for any reason)

Subsequently, I requested the cancellation of the deal and a refund of the amount paid. While the seller did comply, they expressed dissatisfaction with the cancellation of the reserved deal, despite the clear fact that there was a miscommunication on their part.

In light of this experience, I wish to share the following points:

  1. Buyers: "Caveat Emptor" - Let the Buyer Beware. It is advisable to inspect items thoroughly before making deals or sending advance payments to avoid potential grievances later on.
  2. Moderators: We require a mechanism to provide more guidance to newbees, who may not be aware of the platform's rules, with the objective of maintaining a civil and clean forum, in keeping with its legacy, reminiscent of the years 2009-2012.
  3. Sellers: Please be transparent and explicit about the condition of the items you are selling so that buyers have a clear understanding of what they are dealing with before making a purchase.
Let us work together to ensure a fair and transparent trading environment for all members while preserving the integrity and reputation of the forum. Thank you for your attention and cooperation.

@GloriousChicken is welcome to throw some humor here and there in this thread. Whereas mods are welcomed to trash it. My goal was information that was accomplished.
