Baldur's Gate enhance was relased not so long ago and people said they'll play it cause of grafixz....
well their is a mod based on NeverWinter Nights 2 (also a great game) and it is awesome...
catch is that you need to have NWN 2 and its 2 expansions (Mask of the Betrayer and Storm of Zehir) installed

Nice mod, but NWN2 engine is not my favourite............loved the original Baldur's gate and recently played the enhanced edition as well.
Wish they would make remakes of Baldur's gate and Icewind dale series in DAO engine......now that would be awesome!

Unless I'm mistaken, some modders have been working for a long time on porting Baldur's Gate 1 to the DAO engine. Not sure how much progress they've made or if they're even still working on it though.

Certainly hope they are still working on it.

The only hope of getting something close to a baldurs gate sequel is Project Eternity. Unfortunately no one on the forum seems particularly excited about it as I havent seen a single thread about this game.

A lot of the people that post here are more into COD,BF,Skyrim type games. Not a lot of the posters have played the classics like Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale or Planescape:Torment.Hell, I'm sure a lot of people don't even know that the first 2 fallouts were isometric rpgs.

That may also be because a lot of the posters belong to a younger age group. But if someone is an rpg fan there is absolutely no excuse for not playing baldurs gate (especially now that the enhanced edition is also out). As much as I like modern rpgs like skyrim, the actual gameplay and tactical combat are not even close to the infinity engine games.

I agree, but to be honest, I kind of hated the tactical combat in those games(mostly because I suck at it and because the AD&D 2.0 rules are extremely difficult at the beginning when playing unmodded). I found Neverwinter Nights 2's combat to be more engaging than Baldur's Gate's (again, it's probably because I suck at it.).There are very few RPGs that have great combat and great RPG elements. The only game I've played that has both great gameplay and great RPG elements is Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines.

D&D 2.0 rules were difficult but the icewind dale series improved them a lot in D&D 3.0.....Still I also like the NWN2 rule set but not its engine.
Try witcher as well.....excellent gameplay with rpg elements.

The Witcher had fantastic RPG elements , but if compared to withcer 2, I'm not sure the combat stands up. The Witcher 2 was ultimately much better than the original ( and I've heard there's going to be a mod from the gameplay director at CDProjekt which will improve the combat so that's great too.)

While icewind dale did reduce the complexity of the rules, i personally felt the difficulty level of the combat in icewind dale was much higher than baldurs gate. I hardly ever died in baldurs gate and hardly ever completed a battle in icewind dale without reloading a few times.

By the way is it worth going back and playing the Vampire series? I missed them when they came out because didn't have a pc good enough to run them. I know they are newer than baldurs gate but games with 3d gfx dont tend to age very well

Yeah,.....witcher2 is no doubt better then witcher1 but if anyone want to start the series then witcher1 must be start point....still good graphics.
Only thing that I felt witcher1 has done a better job then witcher2 are the combos.....loved chaining combos in all three fighting styles and the animations were a treat to watch....sadly I missed those a lot in witcher2. abcd
lol.....you're right about the difficulty but I loved it. For me it was the spot where team play came into view and good management produced a satisfying combat experience :)
Never tried any vampire series.....will look into it but gotta finish some recent titles which i've already started.......

You certainly should. It might be a bit of a hassle getting the older Vampire games to work but Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines is an absolute classic in my opinion. Just so many ways to handle any situation and even what type of vampire you choose to be has a major effect on your playstyle (In one type, you literally can't be seen by humans on the streets or that'll be a penalty. So you have to rely on the sewers and use stealth to get about).

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
