First of all, i am not sure if its the correct place to post here so if its not then mods please move it to the appropriate section.
Now coming to the point, i keep getting into arguments with friends who try to "convince" me that play xyz game multiplayer, i ask them what pings they get from Pakistan and reply is ~200ms and my answer is always NO.
Thing is, no matter how good or popular some multiplayer game is if i can't get ping ~100ms or lower then its a no from me. They try to convince me that they don't feel lag or the game has excellent lag compensation but my answer will still be no if the game is FPS. Playing FPS on high pings is a HUGE disadvantage for you whether you acknowledge this or not, you are gimped by it to a huge extent against someone who got ~50ms.
Look at it this way, if your ping is 200ms and someone else has 50ms then you are receiving 5 updates from server per second and the other guy is receiving 20 updates from server, he is receiving 4 TIMES more updates so he can react much better to situation then you can. So unless you specifically want to play a gimped game for whatever reason then please go ahead, its simply not my passion. I would rather enjoy playing some single player game on my 4k display.

Same goes to different genre's, if you play MMO's like wow then its ok as long as you are doing PVE content but jumping into pvp (player vs player) and the same gimping comes into play. Few genres like RTS doesn't affect it that much so they are still playable.
So let's hear it, are you ok playing FPS games at 150ms+ pings?

150-200ms is playable bro if you are not getting any packet loss or jittering.. if you are the even 50ms is shit.
Playing PUBG, Rocket league, Rising Storm Vietnam, Line of Sight (FTP)etc with mostly pings in 200-300ms for a while and I don't feel any lags.
Playing Single player is good but honestly if it was me i wouldn't even touch SP.. The Adrenaline rush of competitiveness is what i look for 😂

you are correct High ping is always a disadvantage but that doesn't mean we should stop playing games.

PVP FPS games Ping matters alot but other games are manageable and very much playable without any issue at all .

some games do hve servers which make you have less ping

eg: BF 1 have UAE server which gives u about 90-110 MS.

Not talking about what's playable. Some ppl are fine with 300ms pings. I played WoW for over 4 years with an average ping of 180ms-200ms but all of that was PVE.
What i am talking about is the disadvantage you get from getting high pings in multiplayer pvp's (like fps). Ever played tf2? You should remember those spies facestabs which seems totally cheat but they happen due to high pings.

I get ~70 ms ping on Battlefield 1 UAE servers and i play that game a lot.

Playable as in you're not at a disadvantage because of ping.. Played Tf2 currently playing Paladins with 150-200ms ping.. and if you get lag spikes thats your connection man.. i have a dedicated connection for my pc so maybe thats why i don't get the spikes as u guys do

it is highly dependent on the game, the netcode of the game and how has the devs optimized the game itself.

I think playing most games at around 100 ms is okey, but for a game ..for example like Counter Strike it gives you a disadvantage
