Although the Radeon R9 390X will offer significantly higher performance than existing graphics cards from Advanced Micro Devices, it will also cost considerably more than current graphics adapters from the company. In fact, the new flagship graphics solutions from AMD will be more expensive than all single-chip Radeon graphics boards ever introduced.
Heise.de reports citing sources with knowledge of AMD’s plans that the AMD Radeon R9 390 graphics adapter will cost around $700, whereas more advanced AMD Radeon R9 390X will be priced at over $700. The price of the AMD Radeon R9 390X WCE [water-cooled edition] is unknown, but it will naturally be very high. The Radeon R9 380X will carry $400 price-tag, whereas the Radeon R9 380 will be available for around $330.
Previously the most expensive single-chip Radeon graphics cards cost no more than $649, but, apparently, the company wants to increase pricing of its flagship products going forward.

The Radeon R9 390-series graphics cards will be the first add-in-boards to use high-bandwidth memory (HBM) from SK Hynix in the world. Extreme performance in ultra-high-definition resolutions that the new cards will provide will justify their high prices.
AMD did not comment on the news-story.

Prices in Pakistan differ due to addition of taxes, import duty and shipment charges. Graphics card with 700 USD default price tag will cost 100,000 PKR or more in Pakistan in local stores.

NVIDIA GTX 980 based graphics cards cost around 70,000 PKR in Pakistan in local stores.

Also, it shouldn't be surprising that AMD is attempting to launch a GPU which is faster then NVIDIA GTX 980 at-least. However, Maxwell architecture have enormous potential that will become apparent with passage of time.

If AMD R9 390X will retail at 700 USD price point, then NVIDIA GTX 980 is not its competitor.

My assumption is that NVIDIA will release GTX 980 Ti to compete with AMD R9 390X.

when 390X came out, nvidia's market share they brought from maxwell, will definitely reduced by very noticeable difference. but AMD needs to work on there Drivers. even 290 suffering in latest and big titles. just because of no optimization. otherwise, so much powerful.

AMD has much better drivers. People who say AMD doesn't have good drivers because they've never used AMD cards. I've been using AMD cards from long time and their drivers are pretty good. Every time they release new driver the card's performance increase. The time Nvidia released GTX 780Ti to beat R9 290X, 780Ti was around 9% faster on average than 290X but later with the release of new drivers for both of the cards 290X now offers almost same performance or -3% slower on average. That means AMD card performance improve with time.

Do you have experience with NVIDIA?

A friend of mine have experience with both NVIDIA and AMD and NVIDIA impressed him much more in the matters of software support and also gaming experience.

Yup, my friend got Nvidia card and he is impressed with my AMD software support and gaming experience :)

We both bought laptops at same time my laptop has HD 7670M and his laptop has GTX 630M. I play Dota 2 at Ultra settings 1080p with avf 40fps, he play at Medium setting 1366x768 with avg 30fps. I get over 60fps at 1366x768 ultra settings.

The thing is people here have never tried AMD cards, they just think Nvidia is better in every way. I agree Nvidia is good but AMD always win in price to performance ratio.

NVIDIA is known for better Software/Driver support. only NVIDIA can provide the best Gaming Experience in terms of smoothness. i have used both AMD and NVIDIA GPUs. AMD is power and NVIDIA is smooth.

AMD mostly depends on specific title to perform well. for example 290 cannot perform well in Dying light, due to no well driver support. while NVIDIA is smooth as butter. and Recently AMd Driver Bug the Artifacts Block at Bottom right corner in GTA V for 7xxx/2xx GPUs kind of weird. finally Crossfire support is poor.

Actually NVIDIA is Business

I know they did wrong by releasing a 3.5GB GPU but except that it's great. Amd isn't bad either but it just isn't that great as Nvidia we'll have to wait and see if 39X series somehow can change our mind.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
