Alienware M17XR4 for Rs 109900 ... good deal or bad deal?

Alienware M17XR4 / Intel Ci7 3610QM 2.3 GHz / 8GB / 1TB / 2GB GPU AMD Redeon 7970M / 17.3 Inches HD+ / W7 (Serv.Tag #4QDBKV1) in Pakistan

I've come with the decision to buy Lenovo Y510p which is luckily available in Pakistan. Since I've been researching hard, I found that Lenovo y510p has an overheating issue. which makes it unsuitable for gaming purpose.


I was wondering if it would be a good idea to buy used Alienware M17XR4 which will come with AMD Radeon HD 7970M (which is way powerful than GT750M) ? Will it also have heating issue? Do Alienware laptops usually have heating issue?

iam a proud owner of exact alienware model that you just mentioned with 3 differences. mine got i7 3630qm processor, 14gb ram and 500gb hd + 250gb SSD, and its 1080p resolution (default is 1600 x 900) rest is same as yours. i bought it from uk last september and paid bout 1100 pounds for it but it was in warranty and only 3 months used.
i will tell you first hand that there is no real heating issue in these laptops if you use a cooling pad of some sort to give its fans room to suck air. on max gpu usage i havent seen it go over 65C and cpu goes to bout 75C. the pch however goes to 83C but coz its on motherboard and without fan we cant do anything bout it and from what i have found from other alienware users that normal for it. it runs every game i thrown at it with playable frames (30+)with most at 60 frames without difficulty at 1080p resolution. its battery runs games easily for 1 hour and when not playing games it can run for bout 4+ hours.
this is the gaming laptop for pakistan coz of hot weather and loadshedding.
oh i forgot to add that when buying gaming laptop 2 things to watch out are that 17" laptops or harder to find at a good price. also your cpu is the main bottleneck not your gpu if you are using 7970 or 680m or 780m gpu.
