Got my new mobo the other day from Galaxy.
Installed it into my new system. System posted. Got into bios. CPU was running at 75c at idle cause the CPU fan header wouldn't recognise the h80i gt. The temps were stable at 75c - too high, I know, but not high enough to do any damage. At the time i thought the used h80i gt that i bought (from someone here on PG) was a dud.

Took the mobo and PSU in to get checked out at a local shop. They said the PSU was okay and that it was the mobo that wasn't working. The circuitry under the round Asus symbol was running hot - even though the board was only plugged in and not turned on.

I sent the board back to Galaxy and of course they are telling me that some pins were bent!! If I had bent some pins when installing the CPU then the system would to have been able to enter the BIOS!!

Any ideas on what i should/can do? I'm in Peshawar...

I know its not my place to say this.
But Galaxy has always screwed my RMA.
Which in turn forced me to RMA things DIRECTLY myself through Australia.

never invest in parts through galaxy, they will not accomodate you, and if warranty does get through, they will give you a 60% refund and keep profit AND the new PART that was replaced.

The only thing that might with galaxy is to talk to them after grabbing their balls as hard as you can.

edit: I noticed its an ASUS board, tell galaxy to send it back. And as long as you have the reciept, I think you should contact SHINGTEC to handle it directly for you.

And let me guess.
They kept your ASUS Warranty Card along with the Shingtechs red card, yes?

I never received any warranty cards. Didn't know to look for one, as thiswis my first build.

- - - Updated - - -

I dld take a video of the unboxing, which would show that there weren't any cards in the box.

Can i use this as some sort of leverage over them?

Dodgy sons of knuckle heads, arent they?

No idea about that anymore.
its within a week of purchase, its ur right to have it replaced.

man i feel so bad about this.

I dont think you can use that against them.
they'll start hammering you with their "our policy is this our policy is that".

Thanks for your feelings. I now also feel bad that you feel bad!!

Anyway, they're not the only dodgy b......s that do this. Apparently Newegg used to/still does this.

They made a couple of mistakes, namely, not sending me my receipts and removing the warranty cards (thanks for that info). I'm waiting for a call back and will tell them this. Hopefully they'll cave and send me a new one. If they refuse, then I'll tell them about the video and how I'll be off to a lawyer.

ggwp.
Galaxy at its best.

If that board isnt an expensive one.
I suggest you just keep it and learn from this mistake about buying anything important from galaxy. :p

Theres another thing where they screw thing up themselves and then blame it on you.
I suppose the bent pin case came from here.

if they were REALLY bent, i doubt that since u booted up in the bios otherwise it wouldnt even start up.
you can fix those with tweezers.

Yeah I can try and fix them but that's not what was wrong with It. They weren't even bent in the first place. So, after unbending them, I'll still be left with the same problem.

And probably my fault he's asking for the Rs 500...i said some terrible, terrible things to him. I didn't swear at him cause its Ramadan... but I really gave it to him.

Guess I'll have to take this one on the chin. Any reputable places that you can suggest? I need an matx LGA 1150 mobo...

CZone is a good place to pick, they arent very crap like galaxy at the very least.

The only good place we had was beegeek/imx but its all gone :(

Thanks for your response. That's where i went, once I had calmed down. I was going to get another one onllne, but thought better of it. If I had to RMA another board, then this way I could take it in myself and not have them say that the warranty is void cause the pins were bent.

By the way, the shop is called Shing Point. While i was buying a new Gryphon Z87 mobo I told them what happened. They said that I could bring it in and they'll have a look at it for me i.e unbend the pins that Galaxy bent and see if they can diagnose the original issue.

It was an Asus H97M-E. I grabbed the Gryphon, eventhough its an Z87 and my chip is Haswell Refresh, cause at worst all I'll have to do is a BIOS flash (no CPU needed) and at best the Haswell-R may work straight away, depending on the mobo's manufacture date.

One thing I've learned...never buy a mobo online!

I am like 95% sure its a bios issue bcoz i have seen this issue alot with many other people. haswell refresh on any chipset other than z97 requires latest bios. if u do not have the latest bios , the temps go crazy coz cpu is drawing in a lot of voltage.. get ur motherboard back from galaxy morons and if its still working, perform a quick update of bios.. do ur research in advance on how to update bios as u have to do it quicky, before it fries ur cpu. i know u said tht ur cooler wasnt working but tht could be seperate issue...this cpu temps issue is purely a bios update issue..

What an absolutely brilliant piece of information! Has given me some hope. I wonder if Shing Point will give me a refund? I guess I could sell the Gryphon, but I don't think there is a large market for them. Will have to sell it cheap, though, that's still better than a complete loss. That's also if your suggestion pans out. IA it will. Thanks heaps!!

i once went through the same thing, except my motherboard had bent pins (but they were not the problem, it was working for a year like that).

well i gave it to them. They ranted about the pin.

They sent it, and as i had read on the internet ASUS sent it back with straightened pins.

Well it didn't fix my problem.

why didn't it fix it?

well the idiots at galaxy don't know english. They had written to asus that the motherboard had a "heat up" issue. It was sent 3 times after which i bought a new board/

Please note, atleast in 2012, asus was offering the courtesy of fixing bent pins in warranty
