250GB hard disk

i recently bought an 360 jasper arcade and a 250 GB HDD but the shopkeeper says that if i play online with my HDD attached then i will be banned from xbox live......



Can anyone confirm this?

If can then tell me how not to get baned while my HDD is attached.................????

You dont get banned with your HDD attached.. If your HDD is custom made I heard it used to get people banned but thats not teh case now, they scan your firmware (in your drive) on that basis you get banned..

Yes that is exactly the reason he says it it must be custom made. Can I ask for how much did you buy it for?

@snake .. it was never the case that custom HDDs caused bans .. those were just rumors .. nothing else..

AFAIK, HDDs can't be banned - Microsoft as far as the banning thing is considered (They only ban due to pirated DVDs played and firmware installed in the drive)...
Some techie here might confirm it though

Thanks for the information guys actually I have read the tutorial about making own hard drive and its pretty easy too. And I actually have Seagate 120gb 2.5 inch hdd too. The only thing stopping me to use the hdd is that I have read many developers blog even one on the Software Emerald maker he said Microsoft has records of the serials of HDD they sell if you put a new one in the case and flash it will work on your xbox 360 perfectly but there is a chance Microsoft notices so the best way to use it is disconnect it whenever you go online.

well i dont think thats the case - even if the have serials there is no way on earth for them to check that out . they ban ppl playing pirated games and firmware flashing only . coz if they start banning hard disk now then i think half of there online gamers might lose that hdd installation capability as well .

as the hard disk are flashed with microsoft own code it shows up genuine to them - thats another thing that 2 hdd with the same code show up but i doubt they have banned any one using a custom made hdd .

last year ban hammer was hard - this year with halo reach coming out they will start again - ......lets see if LT stands up to its name - if ppl with LT installed dont get banned even after the banwave then we have a clear winner - if not then well to bad for the ppl who will get banned again coz the console is useless after that . u have to pay ppl to uncripped the hard disk installation / ur profile gets corrupted and all .

also make sure u play games on live with latest ssv2 on them - lot of members are selling game and use ssv2 for ppl who play online . its the most safest method so far .
