Faisalabad is one unlucky city where both Jazz and Zong does not have 4G+ services. I saw Zong 4G+ even in much smaller cities like Bahawalpur etc but not in Faisalabad.

Another thing I noticed about Zong 4G+ is that where Zong CA is available it remains connected to 4G+ does not fall back to simple 4G like Telenor and Jazz.

I don't always stay connected to the aggregated signal. Mostly, yes. Always, no.

I'm genuinely impressed by how they've boosted their average throughput. They also seem to have more towers set up (more than Mobilink) with 4G, either on 1800mhz or 2100 MHz.

I used it in Lahore and my experience (regarding connection) was great. it remained connected to 4G+ whole the time although speed was just 25 Mbps (indoor).
But it is still much better than shity Telenor 4G+. Most of the phones do not even support Band 5+3 CA.

telenor is most shitty 4g! For some reason 4g is capped at 5mb in my area you just cant go above it and internet stops working i dont for whats reason
Because Telenor using 850 MHz low band frequency for 4G. Low band 4G penetrates deeper in concrete blocks so you get full bars. But at same same time it is more vulnerable to interference so data packets got lost and 4G stops working despite full signal bars.

The phone connects to an aggregated signal when there's a data transfer. When no data is being transferred, it'll stick to one frequency only.

When I said "mostly yes, always no", that's was for this reason - when I'm not actively using my 4G connection, I don't see any aggregation.

In the morning today, in Pindi, I got this result:

Screenshot_20200805-114916.jpg

This was outside, on the road. With average signal (wasn't too far from the tower, but wasn't near either).

Inside buildings, I've noticed the speeds can vary significantly - anywhere between 5Mbps (my office and my house) and upwards. Previously, it wouldn't go higher - but it depends on how well the signal penetrates concrete, and the specific cell misconfiguration (which I suspect is the case at my house, since the aggregated signal gives me around 12ish Mbps, outside on the driveway, but if I move away, I get a big boost).

Mobilink has worse signal levels overall, but their speeds are pretty fast (even at my house, where it's -116dBm and I'm getting 40Mbps!).

At work, it's a mixed bag.

So... Definitely concrete and luck.

Point is - I'd like to see the next speed test reports and see where Zong is placed vis a vis Mobilink. I think they'll be close together where there's aggregation.

Mobilink, OTOH... I don't know what's up with them. There was a time when they had aggregation, then disabled it, then enabled it, and can't make up their minds. It's off right now. Zong doesn't have this schizophrenic behavior.

Mobilink will only benefit from CA in areas where they have poor signals.

Their signal strength isn't as strong as Zong's (cause of aggregation) but their speeds are generally just as fast.

I don't know why, but if and when 5G ever materializes (not talking about when), Zong will already be ready. They'll also be ready with VoLTE too since they've got several cities (as per your earlier post, @zafarabbasrizvi) with an aggregated signal. They already have the widest LTE coverage too. When you have all the pieces of the puzzle in place, then it's a matter of fixing the glue.

But why they're still not doing it, beats me.

Oh, and while they're at it, they should also launch VoWiFi.

And now, Zong should begin advertising about their peak speeds (cause Jazz has overtaken them in terms of raw 4G customers with dancing ads, while Zong is stuck with Atif Aslam's broken voice).

I think there's some reason to get excited again - only because of carrier aggregation.

What a sad, desolate life we all lead.

Past one year was passed by doing experiments and trying different CA combinations by Telecom Companies. Jazz tried Band3+Band 9 15+3, 20+3 and finally settled with 20+5 MHz combination. But unfortunately their CA is still limited to Rawalpindi/Islamabad. since their testing is completed, they should deploy it all over the country till end of 2020.

Zong started testing CA in Lahore with Band3+Band1. they also tried 20+5 MHz first but with the help of some background deal with PTA they are deploying 20+10 MHz in various cities. criteria for the selection of cities is debatable.

Telenor did not had much choice so they are going with Band5+Band3 5+3 MHz CA which is not a 4G+ by any means because most of the companies does not support this CA and which does (samsung), does not recognize it as 4G+. And when you look at their speed, you would not even like to call it even 4G.

But imo Both Telenor and Ufone have already lost the battle of 4G. And they are no more in the race, untill both decides to merge.

Oh, we stopped getting an aggregated signal on Mobilink quite some time back. Even Telenor stopped.

So no need to get jealous - we're with you now.

@shaheerk @murtaza12
So finally Zong has launched 4G+ services in Faisalabad. The strange thing is Net Monster App is showing 3 way CA instead of 2 way CA. I believe this is an app error because the 3rd band it showing along with 1800+2100 is 850 MHz which Zong does not even have. Bandwidth of 1800 and 2100 MHz is 20 and 10 MHz subsequently. Which means Zong has already got extra spectrum from PTA against faulty 900 MHz spectrum. God knows how PTA is treating Zong's spectrum.

Thanks for sharing.

The detection of 850 seems like a glitch, since the frequency range it's showing actually belongs to Telenor for their Band 5 LTE.

Can you remove the Jazz SIM and put Zong in SIM slot 1, reboot the phone and then run NetMonster again?

Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
