  • This just in from the Wiki:
"Using "DDR2" to refer to GDDR-2 is a colloquial misnomer. In particular, the performance-enhancing doubling of the I/O clock rate is missing. It had severe overheating issues due to the nominal DDR voltages. ATI has since designed the GDDR technology further into GDDR3, which is more true to the DDR2 specifications, though with several additions suited for graphics cards."
    1. lol alrite. if youre broke, i guess a 250 will do.
    2. dude the asus 250 on galaxy is just waayy too expensive. i mean paying 14.2k for a gts250 is so not worth it. youd be better off getting a gts450 instead. or maybe the sparkle 250 from iamextreme, priced at 9500 which is not bad at all. which you could after some time sell for cheap, add some cash and get a 460 or something. but whatever you do, make sure you pick a card with 1gb memory on it.
    3. this is better: http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=DiFhoOKN0DvrvArQ&templete=2 .. if youre gonna spend this much, get the newer-gen card. its more powerful than the 250 (ive seen it in action), will only get better with future driver revisions, and has a much better cooler (direct touch).
    hey man. ok here goes:

    1. higher res depends totally on the GPU. especially the GPU RAM. for instance if youre gaming on 1080p res, a GPU with 1GB of memory would be better than 512MB of memory.
    2. which GPU brand are we talking about here? i couldnt find any gts250s with gddr3 memory. are you sure you arent confusing it with a gts450 which has gddr5 memory?
    3. alrite so the in layman terms, gddr5 memory is faster than ddr3 (remember we're only speaking about GPU memory here, not the system memory). so generally speaking, if you have 2 same cards but one has ddr3 and the other has ddr5, the ddr5 one will be faster. however video cards need to be looked as a whole package instead of just the memory.
    4. whats your budget for the vga next month? i suggest going for something better than the 250 if possible. youll be able to play all of this year's games on your 250 but how future proof it is im not too sure about that.

    let me know.
ive been thinking of getting something similar myself mate. apart from the ram. will be getting gskill ripjaws 1600 from newegg ;)
dude its a great deal, go for it. if you think about it, rather than spending cash on obsolete tech, youre getting newer-gen hardware for only a little bit more.
save up later and get something better than the 250. maybe theres a price drop on the 460 or something ..
excellent setup, better than what we had decided on before. but the graphic card will have to wait then. ill be going for a similar setup very soon myself.
    which i3 and ram btw?
Their Setups Scare me I mean A i7 980x-90k OMFGGG!!
YOu gotta be Kidding me, Though why dont you go for a Stronger GPU?

Then You can boast about an awesome sauce PC.

    Btw whats your Budget?
Well I think By Mid-High end you mean for Us people, Coz when you look at people like Ghalibmeer and their 2lakhs rigs ( GTX 480 sli) And Blade (X460G sli) your literally heartbroken. :p

And Yes I too didnt buy A PS3 since it impacts the wallet, Btw Nice Setup there.
do it!! :p and get teh system.

the e65 at stock clocks should be perfect for your gaming needs but its an excellent overclocker and a cool chip so even if you push it to something like 3.4 ~ 3.5 on stock Intel cooling, no worries. other than that, youre pretty much good to go and its probably the best possible configuration in your budget :)
PS3 is useless unless you have it only for exclusives, 360 is the way to go when referring to consoles.

Btw I too Need A PC Damnit For Crysis, Starcraft2 and other PC exclusives and FPS.
Lol, No dont Worry We will be at the top again By the End of the season :p As soon as we send That B*tch Back to Barca :p

Btw Your A PC fanboy?
I cant however wait to chop fuckbergas's head off  I mean if we had won today we would have been at the top :(

I am so heartbroken that I ended up watching Barcas match last night :(

    Btw Farca 8- 0Almeria :p
lol dude the mobo ddr2/ddr3 actually refers to the system RAM. that has absolutely nothing to do with your graphic card RAM.
    right then.

first off, stick with your current proc + mobo and get this: http://www.iamextreme.net/product.php?ProductId=124
a gts250 should be the bare minimum. preferably a 1GB version. dont look at anything below a 250. try getting a hold of a second hand 4870 if you can for 10k.

that leaves us with 5-5.5k from your budget right? once you have the card, check sc2 performance. if it still isnt up to scratch, your proc is holding you back. sell you current stuff for 5k, add the 5k to it. and get something like a asus p5ql-am mobo for 4500 and something like an e6300 proc from the remainder cash.

there you go. and excellent mid-range rig - similar to what i have actually, and i can game @ 1080 @ high on my rig so you shouldnt have any probs either. leme know how it sounds.
lol dude dont get the gt220.

    tell me something:
    1. how much is the budget?
    2. and what are we looking to get in that budget?
    3. can you sell your stuff before you get the new hardware so that the money can be added to your existing budget?
nopes not if you dont overclock to insane clocks. get it up to something like 3.0 and your intel stock hsf should be able to handle that.
