You Need
wifi
adapter,adapter Drivers

To set up an ad hoc wireless network that allows computers to share an Internet connection without a router
1.
If necessary, install a wireless network adapter.
2.
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

3.
Under Pick a category, click Network and Internet Connections.

4.
Under or pick a Control Panel icon, click Network Connections.

5.
Right-click your wireless network connection, and then click Properties.

6.
In the Wireless Network Connection Properties dialog box, click the Wireless Networks tab.

7.
On the Wireless Networks tab, under Preferred networks, click Add.

8.
In the Wireless network properties dialog box, on the Association tab, type the name of your ad hoc wireless network in Network name (SSID) box (shown in step 10). For example, you could name your wireless network MyHomeNetwork.
9.
Clear the The key is provided for me automatically check box and select the This is a computer-to-computer (ad hoc) network check box.
10.
Create a 13-digit password and type it in both the Network key and Confirm network key boxes. For the best security, include letters, numbers, and punctuation. Then click OK.

11.
Click OK again to save your changes.

How to set up additional computers

If the computer you want to add to your network does not have built-in wireless network support, install a wireless network adapter.
Windows XP automatically detects the new adapter and notifies you that it found a wireless network.

Now connect your computer to your wireless network
Note: These steps apply only if you're using Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2). If you haven't installed SP2, visit Microsoft Update to install it before connecting to the ad hoc network.
1.
Right-click the Wireless Network icon in the lower right corner of your screen, and then click View Available Wireless Networks.

Note: If you run into any problems, consult the documentation that came with your network adapter. Don't be afraid to call the manufacturer's technical support department for help.
2.
The Wireless Network Connection window appears and displays your wireless network listed with the SSID you chose. If you don't see your network, click Refresh Network List in the upper left corner. Click your network, and then click Connect in the lower right corner.

3.
Windows XP prompts you to enter a key. Type your encryption key in both the Network key and Confirm network key boxes, and then click Connect.

Windows XP shows its progress as it connects to your network. After you're connected, you can close the Wireless Network Connection window.
Repeat these three steps on each computer that you want to connect to your ad hoc wireless network.
Now you're ready to browse the Web wirelessly, from any computer you add to your home network.

FOR Windows Vista and 7

  1. Click on Start (Windows icon) and type wireless. Click on Manage wireless networks.
  2. Click on Add to add a network.
  3. Click on Create an ad hoc network.
  4. Click on Next.
  5. Enter a name for your network and configure the security options. Click on Next when you are done.

Ok people, can you tell me what type of signal strength you are getting and how far from the router? secondly, incase of making lan and sharing files, what type of transfer rates you are getting? I am getting very slow transfer rates when trying to move or copy big files...is there any trick to improve this?

You have wireless N router, it should transfer as fast as a Direct lan cable i.e 1mb/s... but only if you hav a wireless N card in ur PC too... otherwise ur router will act like wireless G with transfers of 5mb/s Max in close proximity and... otherwise 2-3mb at 3-4 meters range

@fagoo: i told u na...to get LINKSYS or D-link Router, yet u didnt follow us and got a stupid router who never give 100% signals at any cost. Wireless N router's are also avaliable in LINKSYS and D-link. But their a lil bit expensive but..wats the big deal. Anywayz....ur gona cry in Future, wat worthless Router u have bought. Still i may recommend u to get LINKSYS OR D-Link router ASAP. Rest its upto u.

if we are moving towards more and more popular trash across platforms that make billions for companies, I'm happy with all the barriers and exclusivity because at least that brings some pressure to create good stuff.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
