Dial *#*#4636#*#* open phone information of sim in which Jazz sim is (1 or 2). turn off mobile radio power once and turn it on again. Detail of LTE physical channel configuration will appear. if it is connected to 4G+, it will show both primary and secondary cell bandwidth. share screenshot
I honestly dont know how to interpret this data :)

Ok so my RN8P with mediatek dosnt support CA because of unavailable combo but today for the first time I observed 4G+ logo. Can anyone explain how ? As its showing 4G+ with only single band.
I think Jazz is using intraband carrier aggregation 20+5 in 1800 Mhz (Band 3). Redmi note 8 pro doesnt support B3+B8 combo which jazz primarily use but it does support intraband carrier aggregation in Band 3 upto 20+20 Mhz

I have checked Redmi note 8 pro combos and I find out that it only supports CA between Band 1 and Band 3 (Maximum 20+20), So in my opinion Jazz has refarmed 5 MHz of Band 1 2100 MHz out of 10 MHz which was previously being fully used for 3G and deployed 3 Way CA between band 3+1+8. And Jazz 4G is now running on 15 MHz of Band 3 + 5 MHz each of band 1 and 8. since your device only support CA between band 3 and band 1, it is showing 2 way CA only between band 3 and 1.

And if it's true, it is very strange for me, I think Jazz should use 20 Mhz of band 3 for 4G because 4.8 Mhz is enough for 2G users. than they could have refarm 5 MHz in band 1 if necessary, because currently only flagship devices supports 3 way CA

@zafarabbasrizvi I think this is better explanation in this case. My basic knowledge about CA is that when a device combine 2 bands to enhance speeds like Zong combines 1800+2100 (Just checked on S20).

intraband carrier aggregation is new for me, as far as RN8P its all over internet that it dosnt support CA combos. Please refer to screenshots from both RN8P and S20+ where the redmi is using single band (still 4g+) while S20+ dual and triple bands with Jazz.

@zafarabbasrizvi screenshots from S20+
These pic exactly shows what I am trying to say. Redmi Note 8 Pro only supports CA between Band 2100 and Band 1800 not even in between Band 1800 and band 1800.
You can check here

Now if you see in S20+ screenshots of Jazz you can see that Jazz is using 3 way Carrier Aggregation among 2100, 900 and 1800 MHz bands. Since your device only supports 2 way carrier aggregation between 2100 and 1800 MHz, it is only picking those two supported bands. That is how it is showing 20+5 MHz total spectrum in LTE-A. But somehow NetMonster app is not showing second band on your device but in S20+ screenshots everything becomes clear. Jazz will soon roll out 3 way CA in all over the country. Some mid premium and flagship phones supports 3 way CA in Pakistan.

I don't expect much from 3CA because Jazz have overloaded towers in several places (speedtests to their own local Jazz servers gives you the antenna-to-device throughput; speedtest to another server and you'll get the actual bandwidth available on their backhaul).

I won't call this throttling - but think of it as your wifi speed and network speed.

Where there's no congestion, they're plenty fast. But when congestion kicks in, speeds go down to 2Mbps at times in different places when throughput is around 15Mbps. Faizabad (Pindi/Islamabad) is one place where they need to bolster speeds.

And also, in PTA's reports for sometime now, they say the other operators are able to retain calls on 3G whilst Jazz still has a huge chunk of calls falling down to 2G despite the call being initiated on 3G (on roads and cities, if you want to exclude inside buildings).

All the more reason why VoLTE for Jazz should be expedited asap (since others won't have that much of a problem retaining a good quality call). They have good quality 4G signals in most of their coverage areas - even in shoddy places, you can get a good amount of speed (latencies vary depending on the signal strength and it's wireless so that's secondary anyway) but tower congestion on Jazz is a massive issue.

Long story short - backhaul bandwidth is congested in many places, assuming good signal conditions. All speedtest results on Jazz are on their local servers, not off-network (which is how it should be measured anyway). Getting 50Mbps transmission speeds mean absolutely nothing when your real throughput is around 2mbps (Faizabad, some parts of Bahria).

If its working in Bahawalpur it should have already rolled out in major cities already.

I dnt expect much from RN8P its an old phone, plus mediatek chips always have something missing.
Its currently not rolled out in Faisalabad.

I bought this LTE router and flashed it with some reloaded firmware so it can give better stats and stuff. Also ordered 2 x 5 dbi lte antennas to improve signal strength.

Now when I switch to external antennas the speed decreases can please tell is the signals strength dropping as I know nothing about these figures :)

My question why speed decreasing with external antennas whn it should be improving.

In the first screenshot, the router is using Band 1 (2100 MHz), and in the second screenshot it's using Band 3 (1800 MHz), so there will be some difference in performance and signal strength.

If the router is LTE Cat4 only, that means it can not aggregate both bands and will only use one band at a time, it will decide automatically which one to use. If you can find out how to lock specific bands on your router, you can test with both B1 and B3, and depending on which gives you better performance, lock the router to use that specific band.
