The existence of GoTY edition proves that the tweet was correct. Keep trying.
Here's your proof that the tweet is false:

It's also important to note that GOG Galaxy is able to distinguish between the standard and Game of the Year editions of the game. You'll get the equivalent one as a freebie. That means, if you've got the standard edition and have bought the expansion pass separately, you won't get the GOTY edition from this promo. You'll have to buy Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine again.

Eurogamer is a UK site. They clearly mention that owning the standard edition edition + expansion pass separately does not entitle you to the GoTY edition. What further proof do you need?

Based on that article, it's pretty clear that those who owned both the standard edition and expansion pass in the UK did not get the GoTY upgrade on PSN. Because then there would've been no case where someone owned all the content and didn't get the GoTY edition on GoG.

Control UE is now available on Steam with a 20% launch discount ($31.99). EGS and Console digital release coming in a few days and console physical releasing by the end of the year.

Yeah, there's a pretty good launch-discount period going on. Not 75% off, but still pretty good for a game released less than a year ago :p

Its still over priced. Base game + Season pass is $19 with regional pricing and discount on EGS. They are treating Steam version as a "totally new platform release" to charge more. This continues to be a train wreck.

Not a bad idea if you're 100% getting a next gen console, you will probably be able to find ps4/xbo copies for cheaper and get the free upgrade that way.
I doubt I will be able to find any physical copy cheaper, and that too being an ultimate edition. Won't be getting any game for the current gen consoles for now, and will restart getting them when the next-gen drops.

The next-gen upgrade is only offered with the Ultimate Edition, if I'm not wrong. That edition I believe costs $40.

Unless the standalone PS5 version is cheaper than that price, getting the UE would be better, but then again, I don't deem it a dying-to-play game and shell out $40, plus all those performance issues I have heard.

Better to wait and see the price of the next-gen version and if it is higher than $40 (which I believe they won't set), will then get the UE and get that free upgrade.

don't think the ps5 version would be anything below 40. might as well be 49.99 infact who knows with all dlc and stuff. the new awe dlc got some good reviews though but greedy tactics of the publishers are off putting :(

this is why I said by the time you want to get it, PS4/Xbo copies will be available for cheap in a lot of places, not every PS4/XBO owner will be upgrading, or want to upgrade at all. So you should find plenty of copies here and there.

Seeing the used market here especially for a game like Control, I'm assured I won't be finding any ultimate edition copies.
