This looked phenomenal. Then again, I never expected anything less from CDPR. The weapons look phenomenal but I am actually much more intrigued by the livelyness of the open world. Seems Rockstar finally has a competitor in the open world genre they have ruled for so long. I hope, I really really hope this comes out in the first half of next year.

This game looks more and more like a mix between Watch dogs and Deus Ex with some Batman, Horizon and GTA elements. Getting enemies behind cover with ricocheting bullets sounds like something out of Overwatch (Hanzo's scatter arrow).

Too much profanity and nudity, hoping against hope that's not reflective of the final game. Hah.

So far, looks like an average/regular openworld fps rpg with a strong and mature narrative! Which is ok, not bad!

So the cool thing, from game production perspective is the amount of custom content + systems in that "setup to a mission" or a side story mission...The animations, enemy variations, characters, npc models, visual design elements and world building is quite a bit ..the scope of the game is actually the impressive part to me..i.e it seems like from narrative design + content perspective , they are building on an already impressive and immersive world found in witcher

Gonna need to see more open-world shenanigans before being sold.

It looks like a standard openish-shooter right now.

The execution of gameplay elements seems to be good at this point. Nothing extraordinary, of course, as the game is another open-world adventure trying to do things differently rather than reinventing everything. I can see Deus Ex and Fallout makeup all over it (the scene where V goes for aug enhancement felt the same as the one in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided). The most significant difference is a more active and packed world with greater detail and verticality (at least in the demo). The only thing that will make it more than just another open world game, for me, is the story and how RPG elements shape the narrative. The Night City is going to be fun if there are plenty of things to do and the demo does give that impression. I would've liked to see the stealth elements - which were mostly absent in the demo except for some close executions - because, for a lot of players, including myself, it's much more fun to play with minimum gun action. Nevertheless, the weapons and gun action look good (that smart gun had zero recoil but I guess such things can be explained away because of technological advancements :p).

Now that you have brought up stealth I realize I loved Deus EX especially HR because of its stealth mechanics. I really hope CDPR also emphasize on stealth.

Ofcourse, there wasn't enough crouching through foliage :p

Or weapon stats. Recoil was 2 on the rifle. While the shotgun was a 6.

Haha! When I say it's not extraordinary, I don't really mean it as a negative. It's just that everything is more or less comparable to something else, which is totally fine. Plus, can't compare a sequel with a new IP. :p

Weapon stats are fine as long as they are reflected in gun mechanics. I was referring to this specific gun where there was no recoil in weapon animation.

^Yeah, all the talk about keeping it private to generate hype gets thrown out of the window.
Btw, not sure if that's a fair point. The game was announced in 2012 and we saw the gameplay in the second half of 2018. :p

And this is a fair point? They released Witcher 3 and two expansions since then. 150+ hours of content.

If we follow your line of argument then as of today, we have seen more gameplay footage of Cyberpunk 2077 than Red Dead Redemption 2 and TLoU 2 combined. The former has been in development for 8 years and the latter for 5 years ;)

Sure they've been working on something but I'm generally against this approach of keeping people waiting for that long. If they were not even primarily working on what they had announced, why announce it? Hype. Fine if they want to go that way but we should admit it. :p

The duration of gameplay isn't relevant and announcement =/= development. I'm fine if something is in development for 20 years but I get to know of its existence 3 years before release. :p

Btw, I really want a Witcher collection on PS4. Think that's happening sometime after Cyberpunk's release? Or maybe they'll release that on next-gen systems.

Admit something which isn't true? They've said in interviews that they wanted to work on both projects simultaneously but the scope grew beyond the resources they had. To put things in perspective, RDR2 is being developed by ALL Rockstar studios.

8 years in development and how much has Rockstar shown outside of a 6mins trailer? Game comes out in 2 months. 5 years for The Last of Us 2 and they only released a 10mins video. Inconsistencies when you bring this up against CDPR, who just released 48mins of uncut gameplay, and not other developers ;)

Not gonna happen. They have another game they haven't announced so even for next gen systems its highly unlikely. PC is the only platform where you can play all 3 games.

My point was about the announcement to gameplay reveal duration. RDR2 was announced in October 2016 and TLoU II in December the same year. Huge difference compared to Cyberpunk. I take that against Sony as well when it comes to The Last Guardian for instance or Bethesda with respect to the new TES (if we don't see it's gameplay in a long time, which is likely).

Damn, they should expand their workforce and make it happen. At least there's another surprise.

And now we have 48mins of uncut gameplay. Should be enough until the game is released :p However, I will state that you're over simplifying the process of a game being in pre-production to full active development and studios tacking multiple projects at once. The theory that all this is being done just to 'create hype' has no basis in reality.

Anyhow, this was one of my favorite jaw-dropping moments in the demo.

The recoil leads to the bullet ricocheting at an angle on the wall and the trajectory changes accurately. Absolutely insane gunplay. Adam Jensen is getting schooled.

The thirst for Cyberpunk 2077 is very real.

Cyberpunk 2077 Gameplay Viewership Set 2018 Stream Record

In fact, thanks to some number crunching from my personal favorite analytic site GitHyp, we now know that stream was the most watched so far in 2018 for an unreleased game.

Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay stream on Twitch peaked at around 288,000 viewers. However, CD Projekt RED marked the video as okay to “restream,” so various gaming streams and sites, like IGN, were also broadcasting the footage. That brought in a combined over 459,000 concurrents across multiple locations. That’s nearly half a million people tuning in.

The next-closest game streaming yesterday was, of course, Fortnite, with a total of around 305,000 views. To put these numbers in perspective, Cyberpunk 2077‘s 459,000 beat out peak numbers this year for God of War (283,000), Sea of Thieves (259,000), and Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 (204,000). People are kind of excited about Cyberpunk 2077, maybe.

Just because they showed something at this state doesn't mean it isn't subject to change for the better ...... or visually worse by release.

Cyberpunk 2077 Devs on Why They Released the Gameplay Demo Now - IGN

“We felt a little uneasy doing it, but the demand was high enough, so we're putting it out there,” explained Cyberpunk 2077 Quest Designer Patrick Mills to IGN, reminding us that “this is a game still deep in development, and elements are subject to change.”
