So a little trivia for y'all: Sardar Builders - you know who they are? They're the owners behind Centaurus.
And yes, they're LOADED with money!
No wonder they're the top bidder right now.
I, too, wished Nayatel got a license. They're already running digital cable services, so even if they don't, it's alright. They just won't be able to broadcast via satellite, nor will they be able to widen their footprint.
PTCL: honestly, screw them. They're a let down with their Smart TV (they could have done so much more with IPTV, but nope! Instead, they're running the streams on 360p, with no TV guide, no internet access on the STBs, and no applications whatsoever). Nayatel isn't too advanced either, but at least you get their VOD on both computers and their STB, have the ability to record TV streams, has a fancier interface, and doesn't broadcast in potato quality <--- which is the most important thing for ANY tv service!
Nayatel! Nayatel! Nayatel! Nayatel! Nayatel! Nayatel!
Edit: the top bids keep changing! Sardar Builders is in the top 5 (
https://propakistani.pk/2016/11/23/pemra-awaits-supreme-court-order-proceeding-dth-auction-toda/). Also, I couldn't find much on the other companies - IQ Communications is some computer hardware store of some sort, Shahzad Sky looks to be owned by a conglomerate, Orient - I think they could be the fridge walay AC walay people.
Let's see how this pans out. It is kinda interesting to watch!

WHERE IS THIS MONEY COMING FROM?! Who exactly pays taxes in Pakistan? Let's hope these guys don't get a 19.5% tax like the telecom sector does.
