Hello.

So I have the Huawei HG8247H router provided by StormFiber, and I have run into an issue.

I can't seem to get an OPEN NAT Type in Call of Duty, and matchmaking is really annoying. I have tried DMZing, UPnP and opening ports to no avail. My ps4 is set to a static IP.

Any help is appreciated :)

Open NAT can't be achieved for a number of reasons, though it isn't an issue most of the time. I've played on Nayatel using Moderate NAT and in-game everything works fine and PS party chat works okay too. If you're doing it just for the PS to show Open NAT type, don't bother, otherwise proceed:

1) ISP has some restrictions put in place, preventing users from getting Open NAT types. Nayatel did something similar.

2) StormFiber is using Carrier grade NAT, which I doubt, but that is a very common reason for not being able to get Open NAT.

3) Are you using another router in between the HG8247H and the PS4, or is it directly connected via ethernet cable?

Router and PS4 are directly connected with cable. And moderate doesnt bother me much, its just i found games much more quicker on OPEN NAT on PTCL then moderate on Storm. But issokay, atleast the game runs fine [emoji14]

Thx mayn.

Welp, somehow got OPEN NAT today. Portforwarded and DMZed and it finally worked on wireless. And the difference in performance is clearly visible [emoji14]

Hey how did you manage to do it? I have the same router but the connection is by Transworld. I have tried everything, enabled UPnp, DMZed and also port triggering. NAT is still 3 and strict. Can't do proper port forwarding as its been blocked by the "wonderful Transworld connection". Please help me out otherwise would have to go back to wateen. Thanks, any help will be appreciated

Turn off UPnP. Give your PS4 a static IP by going to LAN -> Static IP -> Your PS4s MAC Address and assign it an IP (eg 192.168.100.10).

Then go to port forwarding menu and delete any ports your have forwarded, then go to DMZ Config and DMZ your PS4, and restart your router.

Tried this in 2024. Using Nayatel. Wanted to RemotePlay XBox Series X. Tried both wired and wireless connections. Gave static IP to both wired and wireless MACs one by one and DMZed them on those static IPs. Just didn't work. NAT Type is now "unavailable". :( Guess nothing changed since 2017.
