Guys im damn happy to announce im getting rid of shitty Worstcall internet atlast !!
So im gonna be on PTCL from this week InshAllah !
Here are the n00b questions :$:
Which Router to get ? THE BEST ONE !
Any softwares/hardware things i should know ?
Any important stuff i should know ?
What to ask the ptcl dude ?

Any other thing i should be worried about ... do lemme know ....

Quick answers peeps !!! ROUTER IS THE MAIN THING HERE !!

well, you will have to forward the ports as far as I know. But the problem with shiro is that you can't even forward the ports, so you get pwned :D











huawei modem comes with tf2 dvd....for free :p

currently PTCL is distributing the ZTE0K routers & they are claiming that it is the best router they've every used.
Expect some improvement from those shitty SHIRO ones. So no need to worry about it.

recently 2 days ago i ditched that damn worldcall...now i have ptcl....speed is 1 mb and fast but they have stability issues..sometimes internet is not that stable....but they gave me HUAWEI adsl router..

^ @Moiez89, yea man worldcall is killer ! Worst pings ever ! Anyway where u located ? Just asking coz PTCL depends from location to location ... and Ive seen many wires and exchanges are being repaired in DHA these days so I hope mine goes well .....

i would i like to point out one nuisance that will be of assistance.

Ever since that confiker virus came and people had to download a patch,after that you cant access your modem IP page(192.168.1.1) it wont open(happens to me and a friend of mine).To get it working,you need to restart your modem and as soon as the net gets working..it will open but for a period of time,less than a minute and you'll have to foward port or anything that you wanna do in that time!....AND BELIEVE ME NO ONE CAN FOWARD PORT IN SUCH A LESS TIME.And to add the flavor to annoyance...you will think that okay so ive reached here,i'll just restart the modem once more and continue doing but what you notice it that when you refresh...IT FRIGGIN TAKES YOU TO THE LOGIN PAGE,THE SETTINGS DONT GET SAVED AND YOU HAVE TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN!

i think its the problem with shiro modem's..

My Experience with PTCL:
it has been great...better than local isp's that shutdown every hour.The service is above acceptible...Im on 1mb and XBL runs smooth,though i only play COD4 and the status is yellow for majority and green when you're playing on a close server...the farthest the server distance,the more lag.However i played halo3 and gears2 at time when it was 512kbps...they were running good,so logically it should run great now with 1mb.

i am sorry no offense to you but after reading your comments about SHIRO router, only one thought came into ma mind & that is "IDIOT"

abay yaar it is not the problem of your modem. Your IP Page doesnt open because a FIREWALL from your PC is blocking it for good. If you want to access your Modem's IP Page then simple disable any firewall working behind & much simple, unplug the DSL (Phone Line) from your modem, & simply restart the modem & after that, change your settings for unlimited time :p lol
however that FIREWALL DISABLING is much better option.

i have done turning off firewall long back.However,your other suggestion has worked...its unlimited now :D thanks.

if you are forwarding your ports then forward the ports within 40k and 60k range, dont go above or below.
Mine is currently forwarding three TCP ports for uTorrent & they are 41112, 50000, 60000.
So you should also try them. However if the problem persists, leave me a msg with the pictures of the error .... I will try to help you in your query
