BTW, i searched around for how much PTA is charging for approval, and they're literally ripping you off.

I tried online registeration and when i put passport and CNIC #, it said "the user with that passport already registered". Wtf??
These haramkhors registering every traveller's passport (who doesnt register any phone at airport) for themselves.
I have emailed them but it's been 2 days, no any response yet.
Well, now i am registering it by paying taxes. After putting device's imei, they asked to wait for the calculated tax, which will be informed via sms/email.
P.s i also tried my bro in law's passport, his passport # is also registered.

They will delete any previous registrations and you can avail one device free.
BTW, do you only receive SMS or calls as well?
I'm about to purchase a non-approved phone & wondering how annoying it will be afterwards.

My brother also told me about a guy who's registering phones for 2k. Could it be the same guy?
In any case, i think what he's doing is simply registering phones with "traveler registration method". He probably has access to a lot of traveler data & is making a quick buck out of the free process.
Still, 2K isn't bad for getting a phone approved without hassle.
unlikely that this is the same guy because this guy is my friend and his family came back from umrah recently and he is using their passports to get the devices registered and yes 2k is not bad much better then paying 15k to the government.
Yeah even i saw some posts on facebook groups that you can get your smartphones PTA Approved for 2K!

He's your friend you say? Well ask him if he's willing to do the approval in advance (Meaning he approves the phone first. We check the status on 8484. Then we pay him).

Just a reminder. PTA claims they've blocked 3 million IMEIs. There are still no user reports of any IMEIs actually getting blocked. So i believe these are still just scare tactics.
Still, if anyone's concerned about their phone getting blocked, then they should get it approved by the traveler registration method (or pay 2k to make someone do it for you).
