Both PTCL and SF increased speeds with the increase in the monthly bill, however Nayatel increased the bill with no increase in packages.

As it stands, their ISB/RWP packages are extremely uncompetitive, so it's quite disappointing to see no increase in speeds at all.

I am currently in KSA, how is the ping to EU now? My biggest concern was the high ping to EU as I mainly play FPS games. From Karachi its usually fine but I am from Lahore and due to Pakistan's poor infrastructure and bad routing ping can add upto 20-40ms for other cities when connecting to international servers.

Latency to/from other cities is around 20-25ms (on fiber). I don't know how much of it can be improved further (maybe a bit?) But it seems about normal to me.

This is exactly why multiple providers (with fiber interconnectivity) should exist!

ping is still crap to EU, is the new cable active yet?
As per the verbal discussion with the StormFiber NOC engineer on the phone a week ago. He told me, the cable will be ready to be utilized from November for commercial purposes. Cybernet is going to be the first ISP to utilize it since they are the landing partners of the cable and managing its CLS (Cable Landing Station).

Networks can use other companies' dark fiber to connect amongst themselves (translation: whether they use PTCL or Wateen or Multinet or someone else, the connection between cities would be between themselves).

International backhaul is only from Karachi, so in all cases, traffic will move from your home city > Karachi > international.

So i guess my data go from Sargodha to Islamabad and then back to Karachi so here's my tracert please check 182.184.2.189 is Ptcl ip Islamabad btw

That depends on the ISP and their choice of routing (or their system). They could either have a direct connection with PIE for outside Karachi, or they could have an internal connection to SF Karachi which is also using PIE, or something else.

Basically, when we say they're using PIE or TW, it's the external network the ISP connects to.

Try tracing to 8.8.8.8 as well as 1.1.1.1 and share what you get.

Okay - that doesn't look like Islamabad pings.

I know pings between Islamabad and Lahore are around 8ms.
Pings from Islamabad to Karachi are around 22ms (at best).

So by that logic, your pings should be around 30 or 31 (basically simple maths + extra buffer) but they're not. Maybe your traffic is being routed via Lahore (there are three internet exchange points, from what I know - Isb, Lhr and Khi). How SF routes your traffic, there's no way because the 10.x.x.x IPs are all internal.

So - while I'm surprised you get latencies that are a wee bit higher than the Islamabad folk, it's not bad. Everything outside of SF's domain depends on PIE/TW/Peace (if they're using it).

Cloudflare/Google are only a few ms higher (Cloudflare would give 24/25ms, Google would give around 40-42ms). If anything, yours should be 5-7ms lower, but not sure how they've routed the traffic.

As for the geolocation, that depends on the ISP - I've gotten Khanewal on PTCL whilst being in Pindi.

DNS has nothing to do with the routing - perhaps the way traffic from Okara is routed is different.

I use Google's DNS (I'm not on SF, btw).
