The Batgirl movie, which will air on HBO Max, hires Bad Boys for Life helmers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah to direct Christina Hodson's script.

Warner Bros' Batgirl movie hired Bad Boys for Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah to bring the other caped crusader's story to life. Batgirl has been in development for years, stretching back to 2017 when it was first announced with Joss Whedon on board to write and direct. In 2018, Whedon left the project, saying he couldn't get the story right. Later, Birds of Prey writer Christina Hodson was hired to write the script for what was announced as an HBO Max movie.

Batgirl has a storied history in the comics, originally appearing in 1961 with the secret identity Betty Kane. However, in 1967 the character was revamped as Gotham Commissioner Jim Gordon's daughter, Barbra, for the popular Adam West TV series Batman. This version of the character took hold with audiences and was expanded extensively in the pages of DC comic books. She hasn't appeared in live-action since Joel Schumacher's critically and commercially disliked Batman & Robin in 1997. Now, it seems her time for a solo outing has arrived.

According to THR, Warner Bros announced that Bad Boys for Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah would bring Hodson's script to life exclusively for HBO Max. Kristin Burr will produce the film, and her excitement about the project is palpable in her quote about Adil and Bilall, calling them "the perfect filmmakers" for this project.

"With Batgirl, we hope to take the audience on a fun ride and see a different side of Gotham. Christina’s script is crackling with spirit. Adil and Bilall have an excited and joyous energy which is infectious, making them the perfect filmmakers for this Batproject. And I’m just psyched I get to be part of the DC universe, which is super cool.”

There are zero details about the story or setting of Batgirl, although previous reports suggested the movie would tie into Matt Reeves The Batman. However, that was before Whedon left the project, so it's unclear if that was his vision or Warner Bros. Interestingly, Barbara Gordon hasn't even been confirmed as the hero behind the cowl in Batgirl, so it's hard to speculate what direction this film will take.

Even without any specific details, Batgirl is sure to be a highly anticipated release, especially considering the success of Hodson's Birds of Prey and now the addition of El Arbi and Fallah. The directing duo is also attached to helm a couple episodes of the Disney+ MCU series Ms. Marvel, so they already have experience with female-driven superhero material. Although much is still a mystery, one thing is clear: Batgirl is getting the royal treatment from Warner Bros, which should have audiences excited for its eventual release.

Did y'all see the new Assassin's Creed trailer? They finally made a AC set in Japan & then they put a negro as the male protagonist. Ubisoft is taking cues from Disney, and it isn't gonna end well for them, just like Disney. Go woke, go broke!

if we are moving towards more and more popular trash across platforms that make billions for companies, I'm happy with all the barriers and exclusivity because at least that brings some pressure to create good stuff.
