Uhh, this isn't "no gameplay". People probably expected Hellblade level of next-gen only reveals. And Ubisoft rightly deserves to be criticized for hyping up gameplay reveal but not showing any gameplay.

when you say game play, i expect a controller on screen for a few seconds, a UI and some actual game play in action.

this event had a lot of curated trailers and a nothing-burger from Ubisoft .. and not a single noteworthy 'named' franchise except for AC.

lol, completely dodging the actual discussion. The Ascent, Call of the Sea and Second Extinction, to name a few, are "curated" in the same way as that RE2 gameplay trailer. Maybe watch them first.

I did watch the event after the fact.

I can tell you with 0% certainty that any of the games were actually running on an XBSX ... something you'd expect to see in an event advertising 'first game play look on xbox series x

For all the good PR moves MS is pulling, this event was a piss poor one.

lol, like I said before. The RE2 trailer was not preceded by a marketing spell where they openly claimed to show next-gen game play. And then the biggest thing at the show, the AC trailer, had a tag that this is not actually representative of XBSX and is just a estimate. lol.

Getting excited about new consoles is pretty useless at this point of time. The graphics tech has peaked for what it is. You will see some new implementation of RTX and baked lighting is already doing quite the job for so many years.

We are not going to see anything that will blow our mind for next 2-2.5 years.

While the showcase did have some standouts, including psychological horror game and next-gen exclusive The Medium, the presentation as a whole failed to stir up the kind of excitement that Microsoft was probably hoping for. Reaction from viewers was so negative that Microsoft execs even came forward to apologize.
  
  
  While the Xbox Series X’s gameplay debut may have left a bad impression on fans, there’s speculation that its launch price could help make amends. Appearing on a Periscope broadcast hosted by Geoff Keighley, games industry analyst Michael Pachter said he believes that Microsoft could undercut Sony by as much as $100 with the price of its next-gen console. Pachter echoed previous statements that the PS5 is likely to debut at around $500, meaning that if his prediction is correct, the Xbox Series X could come in as low as $400. At that price point, Microsoft would be taking a significant loss on console sales, which Pachter says the company can afford to take. According to Pachter, Microsoft is also likely to wait until Sony reveals the PS5 price before making its own announcement, which would make its lower price tag even more enticing.
  
  
  
  
  One final prediction that Pachter dropped in his Periscope appearance is that the Xbox Series X will likely launch in November.
