If budget isnt a concern and one can build a PC, thats not your average case to begin with lol
Not a primary concern, at least. Someone looking to play Fable, Forza, and Ori now has 3 options (Series S, Series X, and PC), and all of them support Game Pass as well. It's hard to predict what the average console gamer is willing to spend. Sales of the Series Twins will be good indicator.

So now theres another condition lol

Either way, every Series S/X console sold will go against the theory thats there is no point in owning one.

As an Xbox owner, upgrading to a series x or s is probably the last thing on my mind. I'll probably get 1 (probably an S) given i have left over money after the purchase of PS5 is done. This is probably the case with majority owners who have an Xbox One X, at least people in my circle who own the One X have absolutely no interest in upgrading. I am actually more interested in extending gamepass than upgrading.

Oh wow, that alone makes the Series X the ugliest console of the bunch for anyone looking to place it in horizontal orientation.

So now theres another condition lol
No conditions outside of budget limitations.

Either way, every Series S/X console sold will go against the theory thats there is no point in owning one.
If 1 in a 100 people get one, there's no point in owning one for 99% of those people (not implying that will be the actual ratio of XSS/XSX to PS5 hardware sales). When someone says "no point in owning one", they don't mean literally no one will buy it lol. It's a figure of speech, and they're obviously referring to the majority.

Another weird condition, given how the console is designed to be placed vertically lol
The console is also designed to be placed horizontally. It otherwise wouldn't have had rubber feet to accommodate that orientation. Had I got one, I'd most certainly have placed it horizontally. Luckily, there's no point in me owning one lol.

Official prices for both consoles in KSA.

XSX = SR.2299 = ~US$612.90 = ~Rs. 102,042.09
XSS = SR.1349 = ~US$359.63 = ~Rs. 59,875.94

I expected such prices in Saudi Riyals.

The non removable stand as opposed to those rubber feet, and the cooling solution, as well as all the marketing material, are clear indicators that it was designed for vertical orientation. Anyone who is really struggling to place it that way, can place it horizontally. But a fantastic looking vertical orientation is still better than the competitors duck face console which looks ugly in all orientations lol

lol the far more stable way of placing the console in an entertainment center doesn't require a stand. PS5 is the only console I know of that needs a stand in its horizontal orientation due to the uneven surface of its blades.

Series S might be at a risk if placed vertical but not the Series X.

Which makes it a poor design. Its frankly one of the ugliest Ive ever seen. Looks likr one of those cheap concept renders that actually somehow was made final lol

And yet, it comes plastered with a vertical stand while the Series S doesn't :ROFLMAO:
Series S is quite small and not as powerful so doesnt need as comprehensive a cooling solution as Series X. The bottom clearance on X aids with airflow too. Not a good idea to keep that blocked.

One console has a removable stand. The other doesn't. Are you sure you don't have it the other way around? lol
No. PS5 vertically isn't going to be the most stable console with or without a stand. It's gigantic and dimensions are not suited for it. Even with all these factors, it has to throttle to maintain temps. Not a good design.

There's bottom clearance on the X? There's a stand blocking that end. I don't think there' a vent there.

Where did you get that from? lol the PS5 CPU/GPU don't throttle based on temps. No console has ever done that.

Local Pakistani Shop's Prices:

XSX = SR.2299 = ~US$612.90 = ~Rs. 102,042.09 = Rs. 115,000.00
XSS = SR.1349 = ~US$359.63 = ~Rs. 59,875.94 = Rs. 85,000.00

with no warranty of course

Clearance is the gap between the surface you place it on and the Series X (created by the stand).

Of course there's a vent there. The stand is circular and the case is a square/rectangle. This is precisely why it was designed to be placed vertically for optimal cooling performance.

I didn't say "based on temps".
Put simply, the PlayStation 5 is given a set power budget tied to the thermal limits of the cooling assembly.

Even so, the same could've been achieved via rubber feet. If the console is stable enough in the vertical orientation as you say it is, why go with the stand?

I didn't say "based on temps".
What you said and what you quoted are different things, though. The power ceiling is set in stone based on the tested thermal limits. It doesn't need to maintain temps, because the power ceiling is never crossed. Developers have access to multiple profiles that they can switch between based on the kind of CPU/GPU usage.
