Collector’s edition available from iam8bit includes packaged games
Ori and the Will of the Wisps will be available Thursday on Nintendo Switch for $29.99. Moon Studios announced the game at the end of Nintendo’s showcase of third-party games earlier this morning.
The sequel to 2015’s Ori and the Blind Forest launched in March to critical acclaim, much like its predecessor, on Windows PC and Xbox One. The series is a Metroidvania-style platformer known for a stylish presentation and art direction.
Thursday’s Switch release of Ori and the Will of the Wisps follows almost exactly one year after the Switch debut of Ori and the Blind Forest. Although Microsoft published both Ori games, Vienna-based Moon Studios is an independent developer. Microsoft is listed as the publisher for the Switch version of the first game, while iam8bit is the publisher for the sequel on Switch.
uper fans of the series also have a $149.99 Collector’s Edition from iam8bit to consider. It includes physical copies of both games, download cards for their soundtracks, two art books, and other collectibles in a display box.
Our review of Ori and the Will of the Wisps this spring said the new game adds plenty of new systems, to the point it can lose the clear focus the first game had. But Will of the Wisps’ combat, character progression, and side quests are all done well.
