great news guys. Optical Drive Emulator (ODE) is in works for Wii U which means that the console is as good as hacked

its being made by the infamous Cobra team who are famous for their ODE solution for all PS3 consoles. they have launched a new website for Wii U UDE which rite now reads,

Cobra UDE, the Ultimate Drive Emulator for WiiU! We're coming to the WiiU scene, offering the Ultimate Optical Disc Emulator! The Cobra UDE works on all regions and WiiU motherboards.

no ETA on when its going to be released but at this point its confirmed to be under works and will provide features like region free gaming and solder-less installation which is a huge step ahead of their solution for PS3. keep in-touch with the scene HERE

There are 2 to three cards now which support all 3ds games , gateway is the best,mt-card is good too

Wii u is hackable but we can only play Wii games on it via vwii for now , Wii u games can't be loaded till now

Ohhhhhhkkkk... I was making up my mind to buy a Wii U with the thought that is was hackable to play WII U games... Mario can wait i guess

The only reason I don't already own a Wii U is because of Nintendo's backward policies.

- own a digital game? It's only yours to keep as long as your console is functional. If the console dies, your purchase dies with it.
- region-locked game discs in this day and age!
- region-locked controllers! Seriously, Nintendo?
- The lack of a proper online infrastructure. No party system or centralized voice chat.

Having said all that, I'd still have got the console around the time of Xenoblade Chronicles Cross' release. But thanks to this hack, I can probably get it much sooner. Here's hoping it doesn't prevent us from playing online.

^Wtf purchases aren't tied to accounts? Nintendo should give users the option to use purchased game on 3 or so consoles on which we wish to install the game using our account. :/

Nintendo will probably start cracking down on hacked machines sooner or later. that much is a given.

- own a digital game? It's only yours to keep as long as your console is functional. If the console dies, your purchase dies with it.

Well I did play online a couple of games on the modded WII so i have high hopes that the WII U hack will also let us go online... But apart from Mario Kart is there any other game worth going online for ?

Yup, Super Smash Bros and Splatoon. Plus, there's some sort of coop element in a couple of games, such as Xenoblade Chronicles Cross.

there is a 99.9% chance UDE will allow MP coz optical drive emulator is not ur standard hack. they are simple emulators i.e in eyes of a console, its as legit as it can be. unless Nintendo releases an update tailor made for ODEs, its here to stay. also since this one is being made by Cobra team, expect long-term bypass support plus new features.

this is like a dream come true. nw looking forward to buying Wii U near Xenoblade's release!

If they end up doing CFW, then they might actually end up tweaking the voice chat app to function in-game! Should be a real wake up call for Nintendo. :hah:
